Exhaust Power gains - anything goes

Just for info, was looking at the influence of stock exhausts versus the newer generation pipes and noticed something interesting. A 30 kPa of back pressure results in about 1% power loss, typically high up in the rpm range. Stock pipes such as the stock zx14 pipe together with cat will give you about 300kPa back pressure. Thisw means that by bolting on almos tanything with a straight through perf pipe, you'll gaina theoretical 10% over stock, yet another reason to loose the stock 30lbs of ballast.

Another reason to bin the standard system is to lose the heat retained by the catalysts. They are so dangerously hot, right at lower leg level, that they should have a heat shield and safety warning by rights. The engine runs cooler on an aftermarket system as well.

Hey stevewfl, I'm not saying to not use the search option but every time I use it, it always pulls up threads that have nothing to do with what I typed in. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, who knows.

The search function on this board leaves much to be desired.

I think the general consensus is that the Brocks system picks up around 15 HP over stock that is pretty impressive

That's putting it politely. It returns tons of threads with nothing whatsoever to do with the search.
