Yellow Box speedo corrector issue/question
When I shift into 6th, my gear indicator either stays in 5th or will go to 6th, then go back to 5th. I took the bike in about 2 weeks before warranty was up to fix the oil leak and look into this problem. They concluded (haven't validated their results myself yet), that the yellow box was causing this problem. They say they disconnected, and then the gear indicator worked properly (but failed to mention that the speedo wouldn't have worked at all, which left me suspicious).
Anyways, if it is the problem, would there be any issue just leaving it as is? I have it hooked entirely to that harness (speedo signal 3 wires), and have not changed it to ground and power from the battery. It could be screwing up the Canbus stuff, I guess. Anyways, I can either rewire it (if it really is the issue), or I can leave it alone and just run the 5th gear mapping in 6th. Also, would this mess with to the speed limiter, like remove it?

Most, if not all of us, use the speedohealer. I looked into the yellow box and decided not to use it. Can't remember the reason why.

The only reason I have heard is the plug N play nature of the speedohealer, the yellow box version (which has been around longer than the other I think) has to be spliced in. I think this is the major reason folks now use the speedohealer.

S/H has the same problem...reads 3rd or 4th twice...it's the bike that uses funny calcs, which causes the problem.

So even though there is a dedicated gear position sensor, the gear indicator still does some sort of calculation using speed? Now if that isn't silly...
Hey FBA, did you ever get my PM about the alarm?

The GPS is for the ECU not neccessarily for the Gear Position Indicator..

I sent another, it was about waiting until spring for a replacement alarm, etc.
