Nother Exhausting question
Hi people, been a while. Wanted to ask this at the risk of being scoffed at. I took the pipes off my bike last night and went for a ride around the block, the lack of weight was felt straight away. What a pleasure, now the question I have is, if I simply cut them off just before the mufflers, barring the sound, will I need to add more fuel? When I looked at the various fuel maps, I saw the biggest effect on the A/F ratio was remoing the "flies", there was very little change between an open system (say Muzzy M10) and the standard, restrictive exhausts, and in fact, some of the less restrictive pipes had higher A/F ratios!
In order to pre-empt the go by a brock pipe and stop waisting your money line, I can't get a brock pipe in South Africa, and I don't want to spend money on a common pipe (Akrapovic, Arata, etc)
Thanks in advance,

Lol Akrapovic and Arata are hardly common compared to a Brock. Brock's hindle is probably the most common and popular exhaust for the ZX14.

Surely in USA, but not down here. Can hold of Arata, but will set me back R12 500, thats aroung $1800, or 15% the value of my bike,....

Having given it some more thought, I suppose I may lose my bottom end on the bike, maybe it was a crazy thought...

Before I got my Brock SMEG, I was running a pair of D&Ds. I had the bike 12 hours and decided the stockers had to go. Had the D&Ds laying around the shop, actually this is the 3rd bike thay have been on. Needed mid pipes, so band sawed off the stock mufflers, and used the stock mids. Came out great, and sounded awesome. What I am getting at, If you can pick up a set of mufs cheap it may be a good way to go.....TB

Have you felt the weight of that stock manifold???? And whats up with the D and Ds, any HP gain?
Full system all the way, half-measures are just half-measures.

Agree with stevewfl. Give Brock a call. I doubt that South Africa has a law against him shipping there. It's just a matter of $ that you're willing to pay. I have Brock's Gen III StreetSmart and I'm a happy camper. Get a PowerCommander with your pipe. If you can't get something from Brock, how bout Muzzy?

Whats up with the D%Ds is it let me ditch the heavy assed stockers 12 hours into onership, and it was free. I knew I wanted a full system, but back then the selection was slim. Let me have a nice sounding lighter weight machine right away and gave time for the aftermarket to catch up so I could make an informed decision. Hell when I did it we didnt even know about removing the flies, and only a few people had slipons. Obviously the man is in somewhat the same position, and it might be a viable option for him instead of running the stockers.

Guys, thanks for all the input, my current bank manager really likes MasterBlasters idea, and until I can replace him, I think try this as a start. I got hold of the lady at Brock, and will try bring it in as soon as I get the $.
Again, thanks to everyone...
