How did this guy get so fast ??

Sat we had a motorcycle heads up race ...We had been watching one guy we know getting faster and faster . He had problem going fast because of wheelies ....We were thinking he was just getting better at riding the bike ...BUT then it happened ...He wheeled very hard and slamed the bike back to the ground ...The front fender few of the bike !!! We said what the hell just happened ???? Someone picked up the fender and gave it back to the owner , THEN we saw it !!!!! The guys had 20 to 25 pounds of the tape type wheel weights inside the fender !!! The hole inside of the fender was covered with this tape on wheel weights !! The fender was so heavy it just broke off at the mounting points ...If he had added a brace of some type we would have never known ... It gives me a great idea .. But i'll add a brace so the fender doesn't break off ...lol...

nothing new, busa guys have been relocating the battery to the headlight area forever.
The stick-on is new to me, but epoxy and lead BB's under the front fender is a common
trick. Use a smaller tire to make room for more weights.
The easy way is a threaded rod thru the front axle with regular barbell weights on each side.
Ballast is what the big boy calls it.

I made a 22 pound weight that mounted betweeen the header and engine on my zx9r. Invisible wheelie bars is what I called it. It was a steel tube that I filled up with lead shot!!!

No but I would like to try one on my bike. At $350 I can wait just a little longer.

Smoking I'll have to try the weights and put my 45 rear back on.

I would have thought that adding 20lbs of unsprung weight to the front wheel was a very dumb thing to do. In the fairing yes but on the front fender ??

Can I suggest Tungsten as a better material than lead. It's used for counter-weights on boom microphones in tv studios etc and has an SG of 19600 kg/cu.m compared to lead at 11340 kg/cu.m, nearly twice as dense.
