Light engine pinging noise

Hello got a question. My 14 has about 650 miles on her, 600 mile service just done. I noticed today really the first time riding after the service done that there is a light pinging noise coming from the engine. Weather was about 50 degrees F. 91 octane cheveron gas.

Thanks in advance

They have a different octane rating in the states - about 5 or 7 lower than ours

you need to take it bake to the dealer that did the service and ask them what they did during your service. Then tell them to fix it.

Mine never pings on 91 octane, and was good on 87 octane, until the fall when refineries started adding more butane for better cold starts, and cheaper refining costs. They do that every winter around here.

Does it sound like a paint can rattle... that definatley is predetonation or ping.
The injectors are notorioisly loud, sound like loose valves...

I would bring it to the attention of the dealer if you noticed it immediatly after the service.

Alright thanks, put about 100 miles on it today. The noise seems to go away, but now there is a buzzing noise at 4k rpm, im probably just being a retard about noises. My gixxer never made any noises, though......this isnt the place to talk about gixxers

very true. I never imagined how much noise and weird sounds came from a bike without my helmet on. I actually pulled(zx12) over and started looking ...for what I don't know. I haven't had any problems with 14, but I highly recommend that you take it for a short spin without your helmet and just listen to it. It really gives you a better idea of what 'something ain't right' sounds like when you do hear a strange or unfamiliar noise with your lid on.

I think all kawasaki's have little noises. My 01 6r did and now my 14. I've also heard on here that the new 6r's and even the 10r's make noises. I agree, just ride it and enjoy

maybe it is that damn sensor, or the helmet lock, or the tools? i had the tank off and checked all bolts per the service manual...

I get noises too - sounds like a "rattle" - have not been able to figure it out - I have about 2k miles on mine. I'm not worrying about it - will enjoy the bike for the summer.
