Gear and shift light testing.....

Going to the track tonight to test some new mods... I was running 16/41 gears and i felt it could use just a touch more gear .. I was going though the traps a little off peak RPM , i feel one tooth up in the rear might just do the trick ....Plus it may help my 60 times a bit ( i hope) Second mod is a shift light ... I have have a problem hitting the REV limiter in first gear so tend to short shift the motor and that costs me ET also , i can't see the tach in first gear because there is just not the time to glance down and look ..Everytime i bump the limiter a lose a 10th of a second and the difference is a 5.70 run Vs a 5.60 run...Now i don't think these small mods are going to make me any faster but if i can keep runs in the 5.60s i would be very happy .. Sometimes it's the little things that realy help and sometimes little things add up to bigger gains ..

My Dad told me when i was a very young man >>> Son you don't need a Bazooka to go Rabbit hunting...............

'14' Newbie here with 75 miles or so logged. I've read that our bikes have programmable launch and shift lights from the factory. Can I assume these are gimicky and don't really help much in a real world application?

Update

Could plans go more wrong?? I just turned my zx14 into a stunt bike ....Changing one tooth on the rear made it impossible to get off the line without big wheelies in first and second gear ... I lost a 10th of a second and one MPH with the gear change...60 foots went from 1.38 1.40 to 1.43 to 1.45 and as bad as 1.48.... I'm going back to the 16/41 set up ... As for the shift light it worked well but but since i was in big wheelies all night long i never realy got to see it...I was just to busy trying not to flip the bike...I think the 16/42 may work for some of you guys that weight more than me and maybe worth a try... If i had some more time i may have gotten the 16/42 to work better but i have a race Sat and need my 60s back to 1.38 1.39 to run the numbers . I find it hard to believe that one tooth would make that much difference......... Smokin...

Lee, Probally if you had time It wasn't the gear hurting you ,It was you lost a little wheelbase which was most probally hurting you. Every little bit will have a effect in which you losse that leveage. When we had our ZX-11s, we put a little bigger sprocket on the rear which pulled the wheelbase up about a half-maybe 5/8 of an inch. It was a wheelie king, Just moving it back that half inch CALMED that thing down Big Time. I know you know these things, Just shedding some light on things we once went through. One thing,"YOUR STILL SMOKIN"
