That bike is for sale you know, I think $100k, check the Muzzy site. After a few more races they will have the green 14 machine on the track!

Give it the proper venue, and rider, and maybe you won't be laughing so hard...

Most of the time at the drag strip it's more likely that you'll see people with 10 and 9 second bikes barely breaking into the 11's or 12's. Some of them are quick to quote what the bike is SUPPOSED to do from the magazines and sometimes they realize skill wasn't included with the bike.

Thing is the said encounter wasn't even a drag race. Just some guy trying to show up two sportbikes in their natural element...wayyyy beyond 100mph. Glad the v-rod rider didn't hurt himself. Those things are not exactly the most stable bikes on the planet at those speeds.

Holy shit there are some sportbikers that are SELLOUTS on this forum. Fucking lame. . That's dissappointing to someone like me who is a die hard sportbike fan and on a sportbike forum. To hear some talk up Harley junk metal. Fucking a disgrace. Whether you think it can beat you or not...you should NEVER talk negative and sellout your own sportbikes. I am just in shock.....oh well fuck it....guess some people DO get old with age.

One is a Harley, the other is a Buell, and the real harley has more harley parts on it than the buell does buell parts. Probably only thing that is Buell on it is the name....

down in the #330 something pictures is my buddy (the v-rod rider) getting a taste of 14 power. his bike was in the shop getting bored to 13 something.
the sequence shows a reach for the sky launch on my 14. 4 or 5 pics in a row on a black stock wheelbase brocked 14.
even tho the bikes were so different, he placed 2nd in the super street class

i rode it friday night testing (280 suited) to a 10.60 the first time to the track, need to work on the launch my 60 footers were 1.85

My friend took over a month of practice on the Eagle to beat my first 14 strip time.......but it's a totally diff ride. I can't get enough traction or keep the front down to run short sprints for shit, but once it gets rolling and the boost hits.............shiiiiiiit - I would race a Pro drag bike :-)

On my stock Vmax I've had the Vrods so far behind that it's not even funny.......from a start or rolling .....but then again I've gotten very close to what it is "supposed" to do by magazine standards........b/c it's so much easier to drag than the 14.....

I like the Vrod, but it just isn't good enough.....

Well, the way it sounds is that the V-Rod owner just took the chance to turn up the wick a bit....not like he was trying to outgun the 14's. Basically, it isn't a real race unless you were sitting in the staging lanes beforehand...

How many times have I heard about street "races", and it's obvious that one party didn't even twist the grip? You want to see how fast you are compared to others? Take it to the race track.

Definately! An old H.School buddy of mine has a harley and ridden with me before. At a stop sign he tells me, "I need to get a sportbike too, this thing feels unsafe at over 100mph and vibrates too much at that speed." I tell him, "Shit, this bike feels MOST stable at 100+." .

I don't consider it talking up Harley...it's more like calling out the typical internet racers, who read how fast their bike is.....

Well irony struck today as i had a piped v-rod try my old stock busa this afternoon on a backroad. He was behind me at the light and i was kind enough to turn around and wave and he waved too. Liked his paintjob. Looked like candy purple. Anyways light turned green and I Watched him in my mirrors and when we got out in the open a bit more, sure enough he flew past giving the bike all it was worth. I was doing about 55mph in 3rd gear and while he's banging through the gears I Didn't even downshift as i rolled on the throttle and gained right back on him, waited till after we slipped around a few cars, gave it more gas as i got along side him, shifted into 4th and zipped way ahead. I slowed up since i was turning left onto a more curvier route hoping he would follow, but he cruised by with a wave. We we're naughty yes and shoulda took it to the track but no cops saw us and traffic was fairly null. Despite the difference in bikes it was good spur of the moment fun.

"Watched him in my mirrors" <---thats where I see vrods on the street.

of course my track bike doesn't have mirrors. doesn't matter, I've never seen a vrod owner pop some race plastics on and race with us anyway.

Steve I've had 2 Vrods a few years ago try to fuck with my 636. We got up to like 120 and I nailed it and honked the dukes of hazzard song with my horn as I pulled away. They honestly shouldn't get a 600 with both bikes stock.

You should have raced them in the 1/8th mile, from a standing start. Not from 120 where the race is obviously canted in your favor.

Hey, I did a roll-on with a Vespa scooter. We started at 51 mph....man, I smoked that bitch hard all the way until I hit my limiter at 186 mph. Weak-ass Vespa.

That would have to be one fast V-Rod.

I think a stock 636 vs. a V-Rod might be a bit closer....

Shane...a race is a race....if he wanted to do that, then he should've. Who gives a fuck. Ya get beat, ya get beat.

That's like getting into a fight with a grappler and saying "shit, i'd kick your ass if you let me fight you standing up."

I still think a 636 with a light rider will take a damn V-rod off the line shane911.:P

I think it would be pretty hard to beat a 1250 V-Rod in the first 60 ft, on a stock height/wheelbase 636. I'd like to see that, all shitting aside. That would have to be some kick-ass riding....
