lowering links info

got some yana shiki lowering links and have some questions
whats the best way to support the rear during install, any tricks ,methods would be appreciated.
next question, i do not have the front end lowered, i just strap it with brocks radial mount kit when i want to go, do i have to lower the forks to work with the lowering links? i have the springs adjusted all the way in and my front is lower already with that adjustment, i go 260 and i have the suspension stiff.
i want it to stay somewhat streetable and appreciate any advice
thanks

Lowering the front forks is not required.

As for as supporting the rear of the bike, we use an overhead hoist/wench that is supported from the ceiling/attic.

Its tough for someone to hold it up while you install the links, but it can be done.

I'm with Ninjaboy you can leave the front alone ... At your size i would only go one hole on the rear links or you are going to have problems with ground clearance on the street ..I use a Condor front chock to hold the front end stable and jack the back up with my engine hoist.. Smokin..

I have some eyebolts in the garage wall and use straps from these to the top yoke to keep the front steady, then a jack under the engine to take the weight.

I have put the bike on a rear wheel stand, and then used a small bottle jack on top of the rear tire up under the rear fender to hold the bike up. You need just enough to slide the bolts out..

That's a neat idea. Is the rear bodywork and subframe strong enough to do it that way ?

The subframe definately is, or well was on my ZX12R. If it can support the weight of two people I am sure it can support the partial weight of the bike for a few minutes.. It only pushed in on the inner fender a little bit, its pretty darn strong plastic..
