Out with the old in with the blue

Hi all... finally picked up a 07 Candy Plasma Blue 14 yesterday.. Oh i know color is a sensitive issue here.... and yes ive heard Imus this past few weeks how Black is Beautiful ... and yeah ive heard the one that once you go Black (my 04 Viper) you never go back.....well...i just like Blue more...and we'll leave it at that... a few first day observations.. its gorgeous.. smooth....way too quiet..and yeah kinda weak down low...all stuff that will be adressed soon...some other nit-picks.. being thats it 2007....ya think they could make the back seat cowl a little easier to get on & off? Yes occasionally some of us will have a passenger...and yes it looks so much nicer with the cowl on so we have to screw & unscrew each time.... oh i know we all like screwing..... but How about a tiny storage area (like maybe for a wallet) in the fairing...ala my ZX11...now i know my Busa was the same way...with the seat cowl (had to unbolt the grab rail) & no storage space either... All little things that in no way sway my overall opinon.... Its fantastic...and im like a excited young teenager... losing sleep thinking about it.... about getting one and now thinking about all the things im going to be doing with it.... yes really...losing sleep.... i chit you not!! I guess motorcycles are in my soul... and that is not a bad thing

Am actually thinking of looking for an alterative to the screws myself - push in plugs may be an easy option here.

Thanks guys....gorgeous weekend for riding here in CT.... finally... Dont fret bullet76....black really is beautiful...and on 14 looks down right.... illegal! Hey Raband why couldnt they (Kawasaki) have it just snap in over the seat and lock with the key...just as the seat does...this way you wouldnt even have to remove the seat

DAC.... I know about the "losing sleep".... one year ago almost to the day, I took delivery of my 14, a red one (the fastest color). Back when you had to WAIT for one.

Things to do...
Pull the flies.. WoW !!

Pipe and a Pc III.. I got the Brocks S-Meg...love it

Gear it down a little.. Stock= 17/41 Most of us went 16/43.. It still gives you about 175mph and much better acceleration, if you can belive that :P Wth those three things you will leave a trail of liter bike headlights all over NE :d

I bought an extra seat.. out of the Bikeland Classifieds. Pops on or off with no cowl removel.

Finally.. I left the tool kit at home.. it gave me room for a small camera. (who needs tools?? Harley riders.. LOL.. thats who) :d

Have fun

I too am a big fan of the Blue. I got 2 calls before the blue actually came in, both were red. No thanks, I keep my bikes too long and ride them too much to settle.

Oh and about sleeping, yep know the feeling and at the risk of sounding like a total loser, I even had picks of the bikes everywhere (you know the car, the bedroom. office) just to remind me of what was to come. Mine will be 1 year old May 4th.

I had to wait a month for my blue 14 last year.

I like the blue 07 better. Nice pic.

I had been waiting for my dealer to get a 14 seems like for months. I loved the pics, but was afraid the ergos wouldnt be as good as my ZZR1200s. Finally he got a Black in and I got to check it out. Sat great, but what do I do about the color. He called around and found a beautiful Blue and traded his black for it. Gave me a great deal, and I couldnt be happier. You are gonna love it.......TB

Old pic, gots chrome wheels, Pingle shifter, and tomorrow S-Meg to replace the D&Ds.

Thanks for the responses guys... good Tips Toolman....Color choice was a hard one...so will pipe choice......tell you a quick story... got up early...as per usual today (Sunday) figured i'd hop on the 14 for a quick trip 1/2 mile down the road to gas up...well so happens on the route there i go overtop a highway... its like 7am....oh you guys know where this is going...well as i pass over...& there's like no one on the road (Highway)....so i say....oh i cant resist this..being ive own the bike a whole two days & barley hit triple digits..almost a sin...no? So i aproach the curved on ramp gently...remembering reading about all the posts..new tires...cold tires..etc..etc.. i merge on to the highway...go through the gears peaking at like 5 grand...ok....nothing special there...get off the ramp & turn around...thinking about break in procedure...being that ive got like 80 miles on her...well...up the ramp and merge back on...no one in front ...no one behind me...so..1st...2nd...3rd....ya know...same deal shifting at like 5 grand.....i said enuff of this bullshit.. ...look again behind me...nothing...drop down again to 2nd...here we go....now i dont know exactly what i shifted at...or exactly how fast i went....i did see the tach soar past like 7 grand....shifted into 3rd...... all i know is....its been like 4 years since my last bike (Haybussa)....and wow....even in stock trim....after like 6 grand ....this thing pulls...hard...now i know thats nothing for most of you....and trust me...ive gone extremly fast on all of my previous bike's...and cars for that matter...im just a bit out of practice.....but just then....as my arms were getting yanked ...like i could never remember....i knew....in my heart i knew...i made the right choice of motorcycle

congradulation dac beautiful color. i got 07 black because i had 06 blue one otherwise it would have been a tough decision to make.
about the seat cowl, u are right, i take my girlfriend on ride on sundays for few hours and i like to ride it myself with cowl on becuase it looks retarded without it, man.....too much work take off and put those screws back on.
enjoy your new ride

Thanks again guys for all your responses...i havent yet seen a 06 & 07 blue 14's side by side... but im pretty sure the 07 is a bit lighter shade....i also like that on the 07's they carry the color down to the lower fairing...not as obvious on the black models.... but on the blue its much more obvious
