Concrete Hooks
I am going to have to keep my bike in my condo's parking lot because I do not have a garage. I do not know where I've seen it but there is a huge screw with a circle ring on top that you are supposed to be able to screw into concrete and then you can lock your bike up to it. Kind of like those dog chains you stick into the grass so the dog can run around the yard while still on the chain. Do any of you know what it is called and if I could get this thing in a Lowe's or a Home Depot?

^ this can also be found at lowes or home depot...
your bike is probably going to be stolen, or at the least vandalized.
you should consider looking into a storage unit. that, or keep it in your living room.

You can screw into asphalt but NOT concrete. You can however drill concrete and get an expanding bolt that will tighten securely into concrete.

Expand this Stalwart ...LOL
Seriously though...I have a better solution -- I did this in my garage:
Chopped out 1 1/2 sq ft of concerete down to the crushed stone and installed a 90 degree 2" electrical pipe, re-poured the concerete and used a Cobra lock through the pipe and the frame...worked very well too!!

Yes, I meant asphalt. What Countersteer said is probably right despite the fact that I live in a decent neighborhood, but I cannot bring it into my condo (I tried and the door is too small), and I can't keep it in a storage because there is not one that is nearby that will harbor a bike. I need an outside accessible storage and there isn't one of those for 3 miles, and that is a bitch. I plan to keep it in my Mom's garage while I am away on trips, or during hurricanes, but that is also inconvenient since she is not nearby. I think the old farts in my complex will have an issue with the poured concrete blocks but they did say that I could fasten something to the concrete... I mean, asphalt, in my parking space as long as it is subtle. That is what made me think of a hook. I am putting a Scorpion alarm on it and getting Lo*Jack, but I know that will not deter a REAL professional. I just hope that my area's reputation for having the dimmest freaking criminal minds in the country holds water.

Do you think a condo board might have a slight problem with me building a garage on their lot?

the New york "Fahgettaboudit" is defeatable, I've seen it! liquid nitrogen or AC Antifreeze (whats it called again?) and a sledgehammer to shatter the 'molested' links. Doesn't take long either. I'd recommend two or more chains/ cables and differing types, like the New York lock AND a Pro Lock Snake lock (steel armored, cable lock), Scorpio Alarm, Dowco 'security' bike cover (built in alarm), LoJack if it's available to you also is a must. If your condo management will allow you to excavate an small area down 1.5'-2' down and pour concrete and attach a couple of anchor points (definitely more than one anchor point!!).
Of course the alarms are just audible deterrants, they wont stop anyone from picking up a bike, tossing it into a van and high tailing it out but audible deterrents are effective to all but the most seasoned professional cutpurses out there. That along with an arduous and tedious number of barriers to overcome (couple of chains/cables, locked and alarmed cover, etc).
Use your chains and cable locks in a fashion to where the 'lock' itself cannot be placed on the ground as the ground is used as a surface to lay it on as it's being bashed in with a large and heavy sledgehammer. Use and lock your bike cover every time, it's a big floppy pain in the neck for most knuckleheads and it's manhanling will definitely make sure the scorpio gets set off.
Always multiple and tedious layers of defenses, make it tedious for yourself to lock and secure your bike will make it a tedious event for the bike thief, tedious enough for them to pass on you hopefully.
Get full coverage insurance is a no brainer also.
Tricky part now is where to place chains and cables on a monocoqued bike huh..now I know what those holes in the subframe are for. That and the swingarm area might be the best places I know of to use on the 14.

this will work run an exstention cord from an outside 120 out let and ground to bike/make sure you use a small amp breaker so as to only give the would be theif a small shot. Also erect a small electric fence warning sign for all to see and just turn on late so as not to have lookers accidently touch bike.I bet warning alone is some kind of dederrent/an they will only try to steal your bike ounce..lol...bill at cannon
