Preload Adjustment
Question,
Noticed the front wheel is beginning to leave the ground much easier under hard acceleration in 1st. Can tell that the bike is loosening up. As you know, I'm 6' 2"/ 390lbs, and yes the rear (of course) is a little soft.
Would cranking the preload up help the situation.
How stable would the rear end be in the curves.
One thread on another forum says not to touch it.
Your input would be very helpful.

Did you try a ZX14 forum search on suspension?
Here is a link from one of the other threads thanks to redelk:

If your sag is set correctly, you should not need to touch your preload unless you are adding a lot of luggage or passanger for a trip. You may want to try adding a little compression damping. Looking at your stats though, you need stiffer springs.

The stock suspension is sprung for 140-160-lb rider.
You will never get the sag set right with the stock springs, and even if you could, it will bottom horribly as the final spring rate does not change with sag or preload adjustments, just initial ride height.
Schnitz has front and rear springs, not sure if any will be stiff enough for 390 lb rider, but the stiffest ones he has will be worlds better than the stock stuff, especially for a guy your size.
If i were you this is the first mod I would make to any bike you own, as none will ever ride or handle the way they were intended, since most bikes are set up for 150- 190 lb rider from the factory.
