Not sure what you guys have found out.. but I spoke to several mechanics and they said that the factory air filters are very free flowing and anything less is going to let too much dirt in. I am not sure if that is entirely correct.... but obviously if you have less back pressure, and more fuel flowing it seems that you would need more air flowing also... For as long as the air filter is taking, it seems that there wasn't a huge problem with air supply?? What does everyone think?? I hate to spend $100.00 just to tear up the cylinders... I am not a drag racer... but I do like the bike to be set up 'right'. Has anyone tried the timing advance lately?? I talked to Muzzy... (I think it was Dave) and he said that it is a good system, but you need to 'play' with it a bit to get it set up for your bike, your area etc... Also, we have a new dealer in the area and he has sold 3 Busas and 1 14. He said that the buyers came in and never looked at the other bikes. They either went to the 14 and bought it, or they went to the Busa and bought it. he said that it seemed to him that they were going by name. Since Feb he has sold 7 zx6s, 4 r6s, 5 GSXr 1000s and 3 GSXr 600s, 3 Busas, 1 14 (White) and 1 FJR1300. Not sure of the zx10s. He said that he never rode the 14, but that he wanted to ride one. If the snow ever melts around her (again), I will take him the 14 w/o flies and let him give it a shot so he can tell others what is has got. I have not seen any 14s in the southeast wisconsin area yet... I am sure there are a bunch in Milwaukee, but I stay away from there... too many Harleys. I am sick of the, "get a real bike" guys out there!!!

i have to pipe up .. there is NO more air even if you REMOVE the filter !!..

less restriction means it takes less HP to draw air in .. not more air .. it's a metal cylinder .. when the can goes down .. air is drawn in .. same ammount regardless of the whole .. but it takes HP to pull through a restrictive blockage ..

so the question is .. HOW restrictive is this filter to the un-impeaded flow of air ?

some have said ( and dyno'd but do we believe them {greg} ). that it can be as high as 10 HP .. but his solution is likely similar to a firm wet-nap .. likely a few guys are going to look a cylinder using his solution for the street ..

I'd like to see some results from the BMC .. then we can judge the HP gains vs costs ..

sorry if that was a whole nickel ..

Hasn't some people on here removed the air filter for drag racing and went a little faster? If so, then the stock filter is restricting some and a more free flowing filter should help.
