Here it is!! Tell me whatcha think.

This is the bike before I did anything with it.

Then a buddy of mine made a temporary tag holder to get ride of the nasty Tail.

Before

After

I'm sorry if you take offense to this, but the bronze rim finish had to go!!
This is the result of an all weekend, Extremely aggrivating, Tiring project. Be honest and tell me what you think.

Now the middle webbing on the rim is still bronze, but will soon be powder coated black. I've always been a fan of the black and silver/chrome look on rims.

The polished rims look good.
Did the same thing on my 12R back in the day.

Looks great. I also did that on my 12R. Painted the center green to match.
The only thing I didn't like was having to polish them on a regular basis.
I have a reputation for the cleanest sportbike in town, so I can't go anywhere
with dirty wheels. Lol!

I ordered a set of chrome wheels for my 14, and I'm going to have the centers
powdercoated blue to match the fastest color. Lol!

yea we were just talking about that on the phone and he's got some good ideas. I told him to put a list of what he's done (sliders, alarm, rims, undertail) and a list of what's next (speed o healer, pipes, PCIII) and then a wish list (turbo, extended swing arm)

Do they Oxidize after a little while? Do you have to polish them "every day"?

Looks great, but you are going to spend some time cleaning. I did that once....never again. When you have them off for the powdercoat, ask them about clear on the polish. I think they can do it now without loosing the shine.

I also did my 12... it was not too bad to keep nice over the summer... but I wipe off my wheels and chain everytime I return from a ride. It sounds like a hassle but I am used to it and it is soooo much easier to keep the rims from getting caked up in the little areas. The only problem that I had was when I moved to a new house, I had to leave the 12 out in the pole barn. It was dry, but the rims still did get a bit oxidized in a few areas. I didn't keep the bike long, so I am not sure if I could have buffed, or sanded it out. It really makes a huge differance in appearance, I think. I want to do it with the 14, but I am looking to see if there is a clear coat that can be sprayed on instead of leaving the rim bare. I remember having to wax it with flitz every week or so to keep it looking like it is polished. It does get dull pretty quick. I am not sure what everyone else did?? I really like the black look without the ninja and Kawasaki 'plates'. Very nice...

Thank everyone! To answer some questions. 1. Yes it was a hell of a lot of work to get them like that. Took almost all weekend long. (I have three day weekends) Not to mention the aches and pains my hands had to endure the next few days. 2. I have to agree that keeping them looking like that will not be so fun, but for the looks, I say worth it. I polish with mothers polish and it contains a protectant in the polish to keep them from oxidizing. Although any bare metal will after a while, I think it will be a every couple of rides thing for me. 3. I will definatly ask when I take them for powder caot about a clear coat on the metal too. Great Idea. I want to polish them out and get them a little smoother first though. I just can't understand why someone would put that nasty brown paint on something that looks like that untreated. I just don't get it. Now which exaust should I get? I don't want something that will wake neigbors in the morning, but something with a nice performance bonus. Lighter, but I've heard the megaphones are way too loud. Not interested in a ticket either. Help?

By the way as far as tires go, I'm really loving these new duel compound pilots. Just goit them about 3 weeks ago, and already have a lot more confidence in the corners, even on a heavy bike like that. Still kept the 190 tire size, but as the wear I'll keep you guys posted on them. thanks again.
