They have the sport demons.
But I use the pirelli diablo stradas which are basically extended mileage sport tires....so they last longer than pure sport tires and have similar grip rather than the lack of performance from pure sport touring tires.

I love my Diablo Strada's so far. I haven't pushed them really hard but I've drug the pegs and they feel very stable. Next test is to bring up the front wheel in the rain, which the Michelin PP's would do usually. I have ridden some in the rain with the Strada's though, and they felt great to me, lots of traction. I only have about 500 miles on them but can't see any wear at all yet, other than some mild scuffing.
I was wondering if you meant PP's when you said Michelin Power. I was going to ask if you ride on carpet. I went kinda easy on the PP's and barely got 3,000 mi on the rear.

Phytrax, I believe he said Michelin Pilot Roads not Pilot Powers. This is good news to me as I've only had my ZX since the 1st of March (3900 miles) and the stock tires are about done for.
I have a different question for you HiMile (or anyone that knows): When your GPS said 75-80, what did your speedo say? I know mine's off and think it's way off, but don't know how much...

Most speedo's are off by 8-10%, mine was 8%. So if you multiply your indicated speed by .92 you should get a pretty close number. There are many posts about this.

Argh, then sorry guys for the repost...
To get back on track: I've never run the Stradas, but used to run one of their other tires on a different bike back in my cruiser days, they were very well made tires and seemed to last forever. I've also had good luck with the handling and ride quality of the Avon Azarros on my other bike (Concours), but they only last about 7000 miles (haven't tried the Storms yet). Of course all this is just about the tires themselves, not "as applies" to the ZX-14, as like I said I'm still finishing off the stock tires on that.
Comparo question for those that are running other tires now. Would you say that the stock tires behaved well as far as handling and ride quality, just wore out early? Or are they "just plain crap"?

stockers behaved well and rode ok, much better traction than the strada's IMO, but wore pretty quick for me.

Stock tires were great, I just wanted to try somthing a little cheaper with longer tread life. Thy did great in the rain too. I haven't noticed any handling differenc so far, they both will drag pegs pretty easily. I don't push hard enough to notice the difference. They make a diffrent sound on the smooth concrete in my garage when I turn the wheel. Not sure what that means except that the compound is definitely different.

longer tread life <----the very very least important factor in my tire choice
most sticky without tire warmers<--most important factor in my tire choice for street
most sticky WITH tire warmers<---most important factor when I have the baby track bike out :P

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Strada's are only rated for 150mph. I've had mine to 185mph but if you do it often, you might want to consider something else.

Steve,
I'm about 180 degrees of you but let me make this point, anyone who can break down tires like this deserves much respect, so props to you brother.
Hey Exit 27 off I-4 west bound, (you can only go one way) with an hour of riding under my tires belt, I feel I could get a knee down. I'm beginning to really notice how much more confident I'm becoming on the bikes (either one). Riding in the rain still sucks but even there I've had to brake faster than I prefer and both bikes preformed excellent.
Earlier the Question was asked about speedometer error. I agree with the 8-10%. I normally run 85 MPH per the odo and Gps says about 77. When the bears <(old school) are out I'll cut back to 80 which is about 74 (70 MPH speed limit) . In Florida state law gives you 5 MPH tire error check or something like that. School zones and Construction Zone are exempt. I know TMI.
Keep in mind I drive for a living so I really can't take any chances giving these bastards a chance to ticket me. Here is the funny part I started talking to a FHP trooper and he says he sees me riding every day, so they notice, just hope I build a good enough rep so the one time I look down and see 100 mph he cuts me a break.

Well well well,
I had a little incident with the ZX and buying a rear tire is no longer an option. Seems I put the 14 into a corner that one of those neat cement screws went into the center of my tire then out the side. Yep 2 holes, but what is amazing (at least to me) was riding at 70-80 mph the bike ran like a champ no shit. It was not until I slowed to about 40 did that neat wobble come into play. My stop and go plug kit did the job and it only lost 10 lbs from the time of seal to the repair. This happened at 5:30 so I had to wait to 9:00 for the nearest bike shop to open. Well I went with the Dunlop, it was the hardest compound the shop had.
