I never thought I would like the looks of the white until now. Nice work! ____________

KRick: The flames are not clear coated. I used a Black and Decker heat gun on low and not too close.
Thanks for all the comments

You mean ceramic coated don't ya SWFT? Powder coating wouldn't say on the pipe very long, on the can perhaps . . .

NICE! That flat black pipe on the white is just awesome. Grill detailing looks great too. Are you going to have the heel guards and pegs powder coated black as well?

Well I must admit I did not go powdercoat or Jetcoat. It is just high temp matt black from a can (5.99 from AutoAdvantage). Powder coating or Jetcoating just didn't seem worth the effort or money (about half the cost of the pipe) without trying the DIY method first and so far so good. I knew matt would be easy to apply and maintain compared to gloss and so far (a month later) no problems. Haven't had to re-apply and no bubbling or flacking or any sign of it coming off. Based on the location of the pipe if I had to touch up it would be no problem to protect the surrounding frame and wheels if I wanted to touch up the pipe on the bike. I plan on taking the pipe (muffler) off once a year, sand and re-apply one a year anyway. The next thing I am looking to do is to get a second set of Forman grills painted white with black fins (professionally) and see how that looks. I will probably swap the grills now and then just for some variety. I am trying to locate someone willing to do the job and any suggestions are welcome.

I like it without the flames. Pipe looks good, too. I don't blame you for trying the cheap way on it first! What you did with the grills is how a lot of guys do it but allow me throw out another way to detail them that I like a little better:

Edit, I missed your post. Thanks for the info....bike looks great!!!!!!
I am VERY tempted to try your paint idea. I planned to do Jet Coating but I was putting it off because of the down time. I plan to black out most of the bike.
