Exhaust Systems
I know, I know! This topic is like beating a dead horse with a two ton sledge hammer, but I pray someone can assist me with a couple quick questions. I plan to buy either the Brock Gen. 3 Street Smart system or the Brock Megaphone exhaust system, and my questions are:
#1 - Does either pipe require modifications to the bike to fit?
#2 - Which is Heavier?
#3 - Is there a benefit to getting the Titanium cans on the Gen. 3?
#4 - Will the polished steel or the titanium discolor like the stock cans?
#5 - Could I use either exhaust and still use bike-to-bike communications? I am looking for some extra HP, and to warn drivers of my presence, but I do not want cops to know I am speeding from 10 miles away... do you think either pipe will work for me?
I know that's a lot of questions but I figured it would be better to ask them all at once instead of flooding the site with the same subject only different aspects of it. Thanks again for your help guys and gals! I have a brand new Shoei X-Eleven helmet and it does do a good job of filtering noise.

Okay, I got the point by the lack of response that I obviously made the old newbie mistake of overkill. The couple questions I had a bit of difficulty locating on this forum I contacted Brock's for and got the answer from them. For other newbies here is what I found:
#1 - Does either pipe require modifications to the bike to fit? No.
#2 - Which is Heavier? They are about the same weight, but you will be saving like 27lbs off of stock cans.
#3 - Is there a benefit to getting the Titanium cans on the Gen. 3? No, it is just a matter of looks.
#4 - Will the polished steel or the titanium discolor like the stock cans? No. Thank God!
#5 - Could I use either exhaust and still use bike-to-bike communications? I am looking for some extra HP, and to warn drivers of my presence, but I do not want cops to know I am speeding from 10 miles away... do you think either pipe will work for me? All pipes have passed a test to comply with motorcycle noise pollution laws and can be used for bike-to-bike communications. The Gen 3 is quieter than the SMEG.
I have found a couple of the answers using the search feature but it was scattered, and I just did not feel like devoting all the time to digging through every single post ever made about exhausts.

I have the Gen 3 with carbon fiber can and ceramic coated. I don't mind the noise but my wife doesn't really like it, especially the 3500 rpm decel pop.

I saw the ceramic coating and I think I am going to have mine coated black. I like the idea of the carbon filter muffler so I do not get burn badges. My girl hates loud noises... I guess I am going to have to buy her a pair of earplugs for her birthday to go with our bike-to-bike communicators. Lol!

I've got the Gen 3 with CF end can also. Love the exhaust. Actually like the pop @ 3500 rpm. It's almost like clockwork. LOL That sure does let others around me in LA traffic know to make some room!
Just my opinion, but I think you'd want the Gen 3 over the Smeg. Sounds like loudness is somewhat of an issue with you. :-/

That's what I'm thinking, Hawkman. Although I think the Smeg is a gorgous looking set-up, and really keeps to the lines of the bike, I think the noise will be a little much for long rides. I just wish there was a place nearby for me to hear them live... the internet just doesn't do these air pumpers any justice.

I would go for the HP and get the Smeg ...Brock makes a plug the goes in the end of the Smeg to kill some of the sound ( for when the wife is on board)...That way you can have you cake and eat it too... Check this out .. http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=27&TID=30171&set_time=
