Center Stand or Pit-Bull Stand? Hey all! For my cherry popping thread I wanted to know everyone's opinion on whether I should get a Pit Bull stand or a center stand for my bike in order to do light maintenance like changing oil, and what not. After being an avid reader on this site for a few weeks I decided that I am going to get a full Brock's pipe so I am not certain if that needs to be taken in consideration, or not. Also, I am not certain which pipe by Brock's I am going to end up getting since there are a few choices but I would figure that most of them would be basically the same coming from underneath. I read a couple small threads on the center stand but it did not help much with this particular dilemma. Thanks in advance for tolerating a long-winded newbie! ____________

I have pit-bulls front and rear. Love them. I wish I would have bought them years ago.
However you have to be home to use them obviously. They won't help you if you get a
flat or something out on the road, but the center stand would. Just something to consider.

Would the Vortex or the factory stands inhibit a Brock's full system?

My Vortex stands accommodate my Brock's full system, actually they don't come close to the exhaust. From what I have been told, the factory center stand won't work with a full system.
I don't have a pic of the 14 on the Vortex stands, but here are the stands with my CBR:

...in case of on-road emergencies, I carrry a tubeless patch kit, some CO2, a credit card and a cellphone....barring the tire separating from the rim, a tear on the sidewall or a major chunk of rubber missing, I plug it, fill it, call for tire availability, ride to the store and pay for the tire....I also carry a QuickStand for a handy way of lubing my chain w/o having to roll it and doing the duckwalk...PitBulls work great, I have those, too, for at-home maintenance...

What is a QuickStand, worm? Where can I get one? Doing the duck walk is a pain-in-the-arse, and I plan to do a lot of day trips so that sounds like something that will come in handy.

That is SWEET! I am going to definitely add that to my tank bag, Worm, thanks! After checking everything out I decided on the Pit Bulls front and rear and the Quickstand for my weekend jaunts. Thanks everyone for your input!

...you guys will find it very handy for lubing the chain...one of theose"why didn't I think of that" thingies...I woudn't chance a rear-tire change with it, though...still, a good and practical product ...

Anyone using this? I want to order one, but I'm curious as to how well is works; seems simple enough. Wanted to order the cruiser one, to use on my sportbikes and cruiser...

N-K I love the factory center stand, keep in mind my bike has seen 24 states in the last year. For doing some quick maintenance on the road this works best. Even though I like the quick stand, when traveling that is just another part to carry.

I still lubs my Vortex race stands-
of course not the cheapest. but while at the track comparing with a gazillion other brands I was so pleased I pulled the trigger on the purchase of them http://www.vortexracing.com

I've got the Pit Bull forward-pull rear stand. It's a little more compact than the old-school rear stand, and it's very easy to apply once you've done it a few times. The great thing about it is that if you leave the stand in place in your garage for any extended time, there is no handle sticking out the back to trip over when you walk behind the bike.

I was almost going to get the OEM center stand but after reading through the forums I guess I will not be able to use the exhaust systems I am looking for, and the added weight is unnecessary. I am a big guy as is, and every oz counts. The Pit Bulls and the Vortex that Stevewfl uses are great for home, and I just have to find the most compact one of the two since I do not have a garage, but that QuickStand is like a must have. I have AAA RV Plus if I have severe bike issues (other than light patch work), but the convenience of lubing the chain is worth the money right there. Is this something that can last forever like a normal jack or do you only get a definite number of uses out of it?
