Its Rant Time.....(dealer related)
As some of you know that I've been chatting with I had a deal in place to trade my '05 12R for a new 14, or so I thought....After a month of not being able to make up my mind I called the dealer yesterday and said I'll take the 14, but w/o the extended warranty..
Here was the deal, they were going to give me $7200 on trade for the 12 and the 14 was mine for $10,900 w/extended warranty..
Salesman says "let me call you back" which he does, he counters with "I can't give you the 14 for $10,900, best I can do is $11,100 w/o warranty"...
My reply "no thanks I'll look around some more"..
The original deal was not that good anyway I didn't think...I fucking hate salesman all together....Fuck him and his warranty.....

Tough luck but the deal offered a month ago might not be given today for several reasons. I know that dealers will sometimes give good deals if they are chasing a manufacturers bonus or if it's a slack time of year or if they want to shift 2006 stock or he's got a customer wanting your trade-in and so on. Next time get it in writing and agree a time limit.

My bad on that one, I've dealt with them for over 20 years so I did not really think I needed to do that...oh well.......Guess I'll have to make do for a while longer on that led sled of a ZX12 !! LOL

i tryed 1 day to trade a bike i purchased 2 months earilier...i rode everywhere just to gain a grand bike was a 05 zzr1200 1st dealer offered 5k ..i pay 10.3otd... 5 k lost for 2 months i sayed screw that ... i still got the bike...

Thats tough 1 bad. I traded an 05 ZZR1200 in on my 06 ZX14. I bought the ZZ for $7100 used with 297 miles on it about 6 months prior to the trade. Same dealer, gave me the 14 for the ZZ $3500 otd. Like my Bud said, I was screwed, it was a deal I couldnt refuse. ...TB

not tough ...my wife likes riding the zzr so much that its worth keeping just for 2 up riding... the zx14 just don't do the trick for her ...lack of grab handles... i've got the complete givi luggage setup on the bike can haul a lot of goodies in them bags

Hey mike i am baout 700 miles south of you( what yo uknow about the dirty south) i am originally a brooklyn boy myself. i kind of have a relationship with my dealer i have gotten two of my friends i guess you can call a deal for 10600 OTD on their 06 and 07 14's let me know if i can help you. if you are willing to travel i can make it happen brother. I got mine for 10500. Dont kow why but i got my first and it ws 100 dollars cheaper. dont kow how he did the math???????

I'm in Binghamton NY I'm not sure about a clean deal, most all the goodies in my sig were coming off before the dealer got it for $7200.......Make an offer, there is still a lien on the title, I don't owe much but its not paid off....

So you let the deal go for the sake of $200? Sounds like he was offering a fair deal and fair trade in value. The next dealer might not give as much for your trade. I would see if he would meet you in the middle and give it to you for $11k even and $7200 for your trade.

He let the sale go for the sake of $200.....I spend a shit load of money at the parts counter of that place and felt he could have done better is all....
My question really is, Why did the price of the 14 go up when I decided against the extended warranty ?? Thats what I think pissed me off the most, I didn't like his attitude...

I paid 12,400 otd. I bought it in June 06. They were just starting to appear at the dealers at that time. I got the first one. There was "no dealin" at that time! This bike is worth every penny!!! It's a blast!
P.S. Hey "the other big mike"... I used to live in Endicott.

Dealers are very honest people and charge the lowest prices. Especially for service and parts. They never rip you off and are honorable. Trust them with your bike, your wife and daughters. Dealers are special.

i think you got a excellent number on your trade + you save on tax when you trade so you actually getting more than 7200 because of tax saving based on the tax% in your state.
is this a 06 or 07 you ar getting?
the salesman should have not change the numbers based on warranty or no warranty. he was wrong on that.

I paid $12,800. OTD (no ext warranty) on May 1, 2006. No one else had one. There was no wheeling and dealing. And I paid cash! I've since seen much lower otd prices and still don't regret my purchase. Take the deal. The second you ride it you'll forget about the $200. Good luck.
