I agree that motorcyclists should unite!
It would make the sport and the voice stronger, through the public , gov't, and racing sanctions.
I can APPRECIATE anyone who has skilz, talents , and an appreciation for motorcycles in general.
I have ADMIRATION for the ones who build and wrench on their own bikes, or have extremely talented abilities on one, whether its drag racing, circuit racing, stunting, or wrenching.
I have RESPECT for the ones who are respectable ppl, and promote the sport in a healthy manner, ride wisely, and build or wrench their own machines.
For a person to make a purchase based on exhuberant financial status....
well I'm just envious i don't have the money.
I hope its not his first bike,
I hope he rides it alot.
I hope he has a chest full of tools, and uses em himself,
I hope he has a true passion for the sport, and his machine.
I hope he would assist other bikers in need when on the roads.
Otherwise, he's not a true biker IMO
Otherwise I'm disappointed.
Otherwise its a status symbol IMO....
BTW
The color of a bikers / persons skin has never matered to me, never will.
My prespective is...
Respect is a mutual transaction, equally reciprocated whether they ride or not.
Oh and I'll take RAP over country music any day!

he was bragging about speed and only going a hundred? that confirms the posts where folks say he doesn't ride or is a poser-boy rider.

This is a pretty judgmental forum considering not a single one of us even KNOWS this guy. I find it intriguing how so many people can snub someone they have never met simply because they see them on TV or read about them in magazine, and have this pompous idea that they understand them. Sure, I would have liked to hear more about what he did to the bike as far as mods go: what type of exhaust is he using to get that sound? Has he installed an air shifter? What rubber is he rolling on? The fact is this video was for the cover of MAXIM magazine and the majority of the readers for that wonderful shelf literature simply wants to see rich people's toys and sexy, mostly naked women (which I definitely do not mind about the latter).
Yes, I admit it would bug the crap out of me if I discovered that he doesn't even know how to ride, and just has his "people's" take it to shows and appearances and what not, but I choose to give the cat the benefit of the doubt. His music is decent (and often funny), and he's been in some pretty good roles in movies. He has a lot more talent then some of the jokers I am forced to witness on the boob tube these days, but that is neither here nor there, for the man's talent is insignificant in this thread, or any thread on this board really. If we all had unlimited resources to put in our bikes, and we could have as many of those bikes in our limitless garages then I would be quite surprised if every one of us didn't have 2 or 3 show bikes.
I am not particularly fond of all the bling, but even our own regulars to the ZX14 sites like phytrax was thinking about trying some weird and funky color schemes to his bike just to be different. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and I personally think it is great. All I am saying is that we should cut Luda, and guys like him some slack, because we are no different and hating on him because he has the ability to do whatever he chooses just makes us look bad. Personally I would be happy to ride out with him and the crowd of hotties that float around his head like flies on an Ethiopian. Ludacris may just be an ambitious racer - it would not be the first time I was surprised by a hidden talent from an artist... like the goofy comedian that can sing, or the just as goofy rapper getting Oscars, or the The Dark Prince being welcomed by our president at a Republican party.... Weirder things have happened.

Hey thanksNinja_Knight, that is a great post, I certainly appreciate your thoughts.
"This is a pretty judgmental forum" <---most open forums are opiniated, isn't it great to be in a free-speech environment. Censorship and BS can be found at ZX14.net if you're into someone clipping you off.
"Sure, I would have liked to hear more about what he did to the bike as far as mods go"<--Luda didn't do any mods, roaring toyz did the bike and he is promoting their work
"His music is decent (and often funny)"<----now you are being judgemental huh!?
"All I am saying is that we should cut Luda, and guys like him some slack"<--no we shouldn't, people making their living in a public forum are liked or hated but never ignored
"Ludacris may just be an ambitious racer "<---uhmmmm WTF? Are you serious?

Openness certainly should be celebrated along with free speech and all, I'm sure all here fully support that but from my observation from my time first viewing then joining the forum for quite a while now there are distinct circumstances where perhaps a level of inate bigotry that resides with some come to the fore IMO.
I dont recall this forum being one that started out with a personality that advocated the inclusion and tolerance of some over others for whatever reason, things like that tend to be a product of the assemblage of us users.
This 'Ludacris' thread is just one instance of others that are given flesh from time to time. As was mentioned, the thread was posted primarily as 'bait', and predictably it succeeded.
I said it earlier, I dont know anyone here on a personal level so in no way would I dream of leveling acusations or inferences other than what I have specifically stated, and frankly whatever you are or whoever you are you have full entiliement to. I came here initially from other forums that seemed to be little more than chest thumping, ego infused clubs that offered very little support, commeraderie and focus and more than not seemed to love the flame war and smacktalk more than not. I pray this doesnt become the calling card of this place.
I'm sure I'm not the only person that has read this thread and maybe because of the combination of what hasnt been said and what has been said have felt it prudent to bite our tongues. Not enough definitively stated to firmly and confidently lend a response and either way, what good would that serve on an internet forum anyhow?
If the plan is to become a forum with the desire to have a specified strata of members, post it up on the front door! Make it plain, make it clear and make it known!

Obviously Stevewfl, certain things I have said seemed to ignite the inner-flamer in you, but you missed my point all together. Perhaps I did not think out my post well enough to make it as clear as it could be, and for that I apologize. What rudebwoy was referring to is basically the same place I am coming from. The reason I joined this forum is because the majority of people in here appear extremely knowledgeable about bikes. I think it is a terrific place to learn, talk, live and breathe the 14, but this thread is more like bashing an individual because of his "type". Since no one has yet to have a bit of concrete evidence that this guy absolutely cannot ride, and the only thing we have to go on is a single MAXIM magazine shoot, it brings to the light certain intolerances that just isn't cool.
I was not disputing that forums should not be opinionated, nor did I want to get into a big "Freedom of Speech" debate about it. I thought ZX14.com was a place people could come to feel welcome, and talk about things without having to be subjected to hatred. Other forums yes. I've seen that garbage other parts of the web but I did not expect it here.
quote: He's just there to show his bling teefs next to a bling bike
That remark was just blatantly crude. If everyone in this forum thinks what I am saying is a bunch of crap then so-be-it. I will cower back into the corner like a good little newbie, and read through the threads in a quiet manner. But I am not saying we need to walk on broken glass, but this was deliberate and for that I am troubled.

Thanks for the post Steve. It takes all kinds to make a world. If a biker could be narrowly defied I'm sure many of us would not want to be one. Tastes change with growth, so do opinions. Enjoy the lifestyle you live, whether you are a "biker" or just someone who rides.
