Congrats, Riaan!!! Were you running the Maxton map in your bike? I have no doubt in my mind that the bikes can run 200 MPH - - as my bike did it at Maxton (with only a 1 mile track to get it done.) I'll tell you what, I PERSONALLY didn't make it to 200, but I got close, and going that damned fast on a bike is crazy, but fun. My Maxton experience was the fastest I've ever gone on a motorcycle. It was a HUGE adrenaline rush!! (MIND YOU, I DO NOT ENDORSE OPEN ROAD, HIGH SPEED RUNS, but I'm still giving you 2 thumbs up!!!)
Again, congrats, and keep up the good work!

I think everybody is missing the point, or not asking the right questions. How much do you weight????
As everybody knows, a 100lb guy on a ZX14 will most certainly do over 200mph, easily, and probably on a completely stock bike.
For those of use that are over 190, suited, we know that its really tough to do, as Brock will tell you in his diaries.
Congrats on your speed run, and be careful

I have to give this 200 MPH thing a try.. It just sounds like way to much fun ... I'm not worried about going speeds of 200+ but i do worry about stopping !!!!! Remember it's not the fall that kills you it's that sudden stop that does the trick... riaansh i bet your 200 MPH pass was a rush but on the street? I don't want to read about another sport bike rider getting killed or going to Jail .. So be carefull please....Smokin...

From what i seen of Maxton ( thats a mess for a track)... Texas Mile good track (but short shutdown for 200+ mph stops)... Bonneville i don't like salt (them guys are nutts)... I'll take my chance on a open straight smooth no fence plowed field back road (water in the field) .... i just happen to know the spot...

Lee - if you get to 200 I guaranty you will stop at some point :-)
I do believe that with simple mods, a good tune and the right air the 14 can do over 200 a bit ....even with you big 150lbs :-)
In all fairness......just to play nice..... The etrex has a 1sec sample rate so he MAY have hit the 200 and came back down to the 199.XX and not recorded......

Smokin - there is an event at Maxton at the end of March and May - you can have at it in a safe and controlled environment. I do not think I will be there for March but I should be there in May - iwe could pit together if you are interested. It is a major thrill!

Congratulations and welcome to the 200mph club. I think that makes you, me, Rob from Colchester and Brock's bike reliably measured at over 200 on a normally aspirated 1400 so far, just four of us. Anyone else?

riaansh,
congrats on the 200mph!!! You da man!!
a couple "IMO" comments for some of your critics:
1. rider weight a factor in a 2 mile top end test?
- not unless the weight is really over the top; bulky aeros more of a factor.
- several years ago, my 1397 busa-buddy and my 1361 both repeatedly hit 200-201mph on gps's and both of us are 6'3", 225# unsuited
2. illegal to hit those speeds on public roads = yes
3. Reckless?
doesn't have to be: good equip, good weather, good road, no traffic, no animals, spotters on both ends.
4. hitting 200 in a Mile is WAY more difficult; hats off to Brock for his tests.
classic 'ain't been there, ain't done that' statement (or a Harley rider )
"If you can't get to a bikes' top speed in a mile then you probably can't get to it at all........."
And a final question for riaansh's doubters:
How many of you nay-sayers have seen 200+ on YOUR gps with YOU in the seat.
Once again riaansh: CONGRATS! It musta been a rush!

Congrats on the run.
Can you provide details on the restictor. Does it allow you to keep the factory gear indicator ?
I've done 209 mph on my old Busa. On low boost at 330hp it hit the limiter in 6th. For a stock NA bike to hit 200mph is awesome.

I agree with entropy. Once the weight is moving at that speed, it is not much of a factor. The riders shape and the ability to get out of the wind is huge.

What's with all the congratulations? He didn't reach 200 mph. Came close but didn't reach it. This isn't horseshoes.
Are there any venues in South Africa where you can do this safely?

321 KPH is equal to 199.46 MPH by my calculations.
(by mine too)
on my etrex it would have rounded to 200.
I say he went 200!

Speed is a finite science. At any time trials they would have given him his slip and said "sorry".
Why don't we round down Smokin' to a 8 sec quarter. He's a nice guy. And how about Brock. Let's round him over 200 mph too-- No you can't do that. They're grown men and they accept the numbers they get. In addition they're pros at their craft who approach their racing in a very professional and safe manner. They're not some hot dog on the highway who risks killing innocent civilians just to prove himself.

flyboy,
Hmmmm, is there something in particular which is pushing yr bottons about this???
this is not a $100,000 international guiness book of records entry to 6 significant figures.
It's a guy who is proud of going fast. And I don't get the sense he is a hot dog on the highway.
Rather than debate rounding up .5mph, i'd honestly rather hear you tell about your high speed runs. I like to hear folks' passion.
I totally agree with you that records at official events are serious affaires, but this is about enthusiasm, with nothing else riding on it.

I've seen too many riders killed hotdogging through the windy mountain roads here south of San Francisco. Every three days in the newspaper you read about another biker killed on the road. Everyday-- two to eight bikers go down in the streets around here. Yes many times it was the car drivers fault but many of these bikers are taking stupid chances.
I like to see people go fast but in a safe manner. I'm sure Riaansh is an nice guy but there are many people on this site that are going to read his exploits and say, "if he can do it-- so can I". Before you know it you're going to see more GPS photos on the site and then one day someone is going to get killed or kill others. The amazing thing is that when a 14 biker dies-- you'll never read it in this forum because he won't be around to type it. How many people do you know that have posted a lot on this site and amazingly post no more. Are they dead? As an example where's FBA? Yeah, I've got passion-- maybe too much. Okay, you guys want to call it 200 that's fine with me. But I hope he finds some place safe to do it again.

I understand flyboy's viewstance.
It was an endeavor to travel, and do the bonnyville thing, pass tech etc...
200 mph vs 200 certified mph is a difference!!
Remember too though, the salt provides alot less traction....and air density due to altitude.

Thanks to you Brock. I was using the race map. I'm sure the Maxton map will even be better. I also do not endorse going fast in town, but it was not in town. It was public road not much used and it was early morning with absolutely no traffic. It was a huge rush going that fast and I must say the road is not that clear at that speed, but the bike did it so easily, in a short distance. My local dealer was very impressed when I gave his GPS back to him. Thanks for spending so much time on your mods, I think your map is very good.
