Help me with aftermarket windscreen info!

I am looking for a stock shaped (not double bubble) dark smoked windscreen for my 14.
The problem is, I need one that is not completely blacked out at the bottom. I have a laser
sensor behind the gauge set. Does anyone know of a windscreen like this? I talked to zero-gravity and they said their dark smoke was what I wanted, but it's not out yet. Does anyone know if any of the puig screens are made like this, and who has one in stock? Also noticed the puig screens say 1400 R on them. Does this come off? There's a lot of people labeling the bike ZX-14R. I'm sick of that crap.

Be careful, I saw a guy with one that didn't even have the black part painted like stock and all the crap in front of the speedo showed

I was like "you paid for that screen?"

That's what I want, but I want to get a dark smoke, so you can't see all that mess back there. I had one on my 12 and it looked good. Couldn't see through it from the outside. If I don't get one like that, my laser sensor won't work.

I have a new smoked MRA on the way. It has the stock appearance but with a very slight raise up top. Here's one that I am getting.

I've been looking at those. Do you know if it is solid at the bottom or just dark?

Don't know if any good, but Givi have a few models - www.givi.it

Other option we do in Oz is get a local mob to do a screen for us.

If they don't have a master for our particular screen they just ask to use ours to get the blank from. Usually heaps cheaper than a manufacturers catalogue option. they should also be able to do it to your specs/requirements (maybe even blanked out or solid except for the eye area for the laser

I haven't seen the puig in person, and no one has let me know how they are made.
I guess most have the double bubble, which I really don't like.

Yeah - & if you don't pay Tony Soprano comes visiting

By mob I mean a local factory. Not sure what the process is called - plastic molding or something? They either will have a mold in stock from a previous job or use yours to make a new mold. Don't know how many would do it, but theres at least one here who does bike screens and is building up their inventory.

I think a new smoked screen for my old CBR600f2 cost me around $AU60 as opposed to a couple of hundred for an original. Not sure how that would compare to one from a catalogue.

Maybe a post on a larger forum (bikeland.org general, not ZX14 specific) would turn up some more info.

No, the "R1400" on the Puig screen does not come off. It looks like it's been screened into the backside of the plastic, then black painted over that. You'd have to remove the black first to get to the writing. I was able to get a close look at one at the dealer on Saturday.

Kinda stupid to have the R on there. Doesn't really matter though. The screen is black at the bottom, so I can't use it. I ordered a hotbodies, and they assured me it's just smoked all the way down. We'll see when it gets here.

I take it that mra is solid at the bottom? Does the mra come off, or is it like the puig. I don't like a bunch of advertisers on my bike. The only aftermarket names I leave on are Brock and Hindle. Both on the can of course.
