I think you are all wrong. Who is the exhaust guru? Not Muzzy. He is the performance guru. Not Brock. He has spent a year testing the 14 for performance. He hasn't been specifically tweaking the exhaust. For the record, I have a Brock's system on my bike.

Look at K. Bryants background. Years of experience in exhaust systems. Specifically, exhaust systems. He is the exhaust guru.

Bless you my son. Yes, my thing is exhaust, and exhaust only (though I've lost track of how many engines I've built as well....).

I do have several full systems done for the ZX14. But since many of them are built for private label clients that we design and manufacture exhaust systems for, I don't know if we will actually produce an "Area P' branded full system (Slip-Ons only for now).

Many of the brands mentioned previously are excellent choices and hard to go wrong with.

k bryant.....................would you please give me your opinion on why Akrapovic does't have a full system available for the 14 yet? They sure seem to have a strong relationship with Kawasaki ( I think most of the AMA, Moto GP, and WSBK use Akro..........) and full systems are available for just about EVERY other model Big K produces.

I'm a little confused about this........................( what's new right? )

I had a meeting with Igor in Germany two years ago discussing a project in North America. They had a lot on their plate then and a huge amount now. It may be beginning to show. They have a strong relationship with most of the oem's. I mean, they are the standard right now and they make a really nice product. When the perception is that you are on top of the mountain, there's only one place to go from there..... They are involved in so many motorcycle areas, as well as branching out into the automotive market, they're gonna let something slip through the cracks.

My opinion is that they initially believed that this particular bike would be a good seller for Slip-Ons in the worldwide market place. Worldwide being the word. With sound regulations being so strict and fully policed outside the USA, this may have also played into their plans (it's much easier to pass with two mufflers). They do not consider the 14 to be a "Sportbike" as such. Most of their R&D time is going to full on Supersport type bikes, Offroad, & ATV. Add all the racing projects they are involved with.... Man, you can only grow so much, so fast.

But I am just as surprised as anyone to see they have not developed one as of yet. And with the 14 being on it's second year with no full system offering from Akro, I'd be surprised to see them enter the frey now. Stats are showing that more and more every year, full system sales are down, and Slip-Ons/Bolt-Ons are continuing to be the trend. Like it or not, Sportbike full system sales are becoming a niche market to some of the larger companies.

Thanks Kerry................I appreciate your time. ( AND your opinion )

I was really baffled about this, the 14 being Kawasaki's flagship and all. What you said makes sense though...........it's great to grow fast........but you gotta grow fast the right way.

You don't want to lose sight of what got you there...................

The title of the thread isn't exhaust guru. It's ZX-14 exhaust guru.

What are exhausts for? Ultimately to add more power, right? Which exhaust gets the ZX-14 down the 1/4 fastest given the same rider on the same day?

Who is the ZX-14 exhaust guru? You answered the question yourself when you stated Brock spent a year testing the 14 for performance.
