Crash protection on the ZX-14
What crash protection products are out there for the '14?
I've seen some pics out there with some bikes that have crash sliders on but no way to figure out what they are. Has anyone had the unfortunate occasion to put a set to use? How did they perform? In general how pleased are you with the ones you have?
Replies appreciated, I am at the edge of making a purchase within a month and would like some input into what some of you that already own the bike feel are good products.
Do fork and swingarm sliders make sense to employ on this bike? I have them on my current sportbike but's a significantly slimmer bike than the '14. What about clutch and sator covers, again I'm familiar with the need for them on my naked bike but dont really know much about their employment on the '14, at least from my searching I've not seen or heard of any with them.
So far I've found crash slider products from LSL and R&G Racing, what else it out there..

That won't save 'em from damage.

Hey you know how little I care about damage to my bikes compared to the damage to myself?
Investment in bike: state farm insurance, like anything I drive/ride.
Investment in an average dainese suit, helmet, gloves and boots.
And I enjoy riding my bikes, I'm not the luggage or bling type.

Steve, I hear you and dont miss the point... I have gear coming out the ass, 9-jackets, 5 boots, 2 suits, 4 full faced helmets, gloves up to the eyballs and none of them cheap..all racegloves, back protectors, knee/shin, elbow/forearm guards x4, a box of asprin and 3-band aids and an extra pair of under-drawers..Homie, Bodily protection isnt even in question!!!!
I currently have 2 bikes and have crash protection on them, they have proven to be worth their weight in gold.
I've been riding for ages and have only ever fallen twice, the first was last summer, I was many states from home (South Carolina) and hit a patch of hydraulic fluid that was spilled on a sweeping curve and my ass was on the ground...I was able to pick the bike up and continue enjoying the remaining week of my vacation. Without them it would have been a calling a tow truck, strapping it back up to the trailer and a b-line and a 12-hour drive back home as my vacation would have been shot.
All my repair cost were replacing the 'employed' slider and touch up paint for the scuffed clutch cover...$60 tops!
My bikes are fully insured also, State Farm is my good friend and neighbor as well, but from things I've seen and the minor things I've experienced, my choice is to put protection on my bikes everytime, it's the first accesory I put on right after the new license plate gets screwed on,
So again, good people..what are your recomendations on good and sturdy crash sliders for this monocoque missile??

I mainly got the sliders to protect from low speed accidents. I agree that insurance is more appropriate for a real accident. I've seen them work extremely well on a CBR though. Front fairings had no damage. Accident was at 40-60 mph I'd guess. Rear fairing was still damaged but the bike was very ridable.

I'm way behind on the reply but I just put my bike down and was at the time looking into sliders. Just hadn't bought them yet. But I did order them the other day along with all the parts to fix my bike. I bought race railz with the 3 inch extenders on them and also purchased the swing arm sliders. I'm also clueless on the front fork sliders and am looking for advice there as well. With the info I received I chose the race railz. And I did break my clutch lever off. As well as the gear shifter. And they are powdercoating the railz to match my blue.

Steve:
Which model of Dainese boots do you have? I have a pair that needs replacing and they don't make my model any longer. Thanks

Although the leathers are Dainese, the boots are Alpinestars SMX-Rs. I originally wanted SIDI, but I couldn't find an available pair in US 12.
After wearing them on Homestead, I'm extremely pleased with them.
