Handling? Well if any of you piped zx14 owners want to show up for a track day at NHIS this comming summer to show me how much lower the lap times are with a zx14 be my guest. You can have anyone ride the bike for you if you like. But if you dont ride the bike yourself then I can have someone else put some lap times down as well.
The slower lap time bike pays for both parties expenses for the day.
Then we can go to the drag strip. Again, If you want another person to ride your zx14 thats cool too. But same applies for me too.
That would cover Handling and acceleration and it would be a lot of fun.
Any takers?
I'd happy to race you in the 1/4 mile ....Call me when you get your zx12 in the 8s If you can and we will talk .... P/S i do all my own driving .....
Ring, ring....I have a phone call for Mr Smokin. I'll take that race. You won't be happy with the outcome
I'll ride my old antique 12 you on your 14. My 12 is a 1375 motor. It is an all motor bike. So you are down a few cc's but our size difference should make up for it. I'm 6'5" and 225lbs in shorts. How big are you? I'm guessing about 150lbs, maybe smaller. You up for it??
I also do all my own riding.
I know you were just busting balls and not really looking for a race. There are plenty of all motor 12's out there faster than mine but your stock motor 14 isn't as fast as you think.
Ride safe and keep kicking the suzuki guy's ass.

I used 2 own a 2000 zx12. Loved the looks of the bike. But the clutch was a nightmare. I couldnt ever get it right. Now i own a zx14, Its faster for sure (been tested by me at the same track). Its also tougher, ive beat on it and no clutch issues. I think we got a winner. I still miss my zx9 for street patrol. Prob gonna buy 1 of the new z1000s . But im glad 2 see the kawi loyalty. If we all liked the same thing the world would be a wierd place.

Smokin, it's all good. I'm just like you. I will race anyone, win lose or draw. It doesn't matter to me. I'm just out to have a good time and try and go fast.
In your post to Y2KZX12R you made it sound like it was impossible to get a 12 into the 8's. This ring a bell? "Call me when you get your zx12 in the 8s If you can and we will talk." Dude, seriously it isn't as hard as you might think.
My hat is off to you. You are riding the wheels off your 14 no doubt about it. You are a small guy on a powerful bike. Someone my size would be lucky to even dip into the 8's with your same setup on the same bike. Rider skill being equal of course.
You seem like a guy who really loves drag racing. I can appreciate that. I am the exact same way. I spend as much time at the track as I can. Hopefully our paths will cross someday. It would be great to meet you. I'll be at the Grudge race at MIR in June. Maybe you can make it up there?
Ride safe.

You guys are all fags.
Silly saying built 12s will beat stock 14s. Such a lame argument. I've got both the 12R and 14 in the garage with same mods each. Hands down...14 is superior.
I didn't even know there was such a debate going on about 12Rs versus 14s. :-?

I didn't have a 12 but I had a busa.[Very much the same as the 12 or at least not that much different]. To me the 14 rocks hands down. How many guys want's to rip a motor apart?
Not me. So the 14 scores for being all motor fast.

ya, I thought until recently those "faster than the 14" fantasy debates were unique to the 'busa crowd

Hmm a zx12 vs a zx14 at a trackday. Since i own both and do alot of trackdays on both i can you give you some feedback with my amatuer/ wanna be expert advice.
On the track the zx14 seems to require less effort to transition from left to right. The big beast really handles quite well. The brakes are far superior (feel wise)to the 12. My 12 has ss lines and hh pads. I can go into a corner later/deeper with my 14 and driving out of a corner, the 14 has no equal as long as you use your big bike to slow the other bikes down in the corner. My 14 isn't stock.( flys removed, mapped, piped geared etc).
Although I do not have a 1375 in my 12 its only a 1290 kit with mellions of dollars in it (200 hp on pump gas)i can say without a doubt down the straightaway my 12 walks all over my 14 ( 1/3 mile straight, deming NM).
Believe it or not at sandia motorsports (very small and tight track) my lap times are slightly quicker on my 14 then the 12. i think the reason is better brakes and stronger bottom end torque. However, on a bigger track i can use the power of my zx12 and lap faster faster times.
Once, i upgrade my brakes and suspension on my 12 I have no doubt my 12 will run faster at both tracks. I would say my skill level is advanced/expert class but i make no claims at being Valentino Rossi. I'm just and avid trackday nut that for the last 7 years have been riding only Busas and 12's at the track. Not to cut down busas but my old 99 busa didn't handle as well as my zx12 or 14. Take it for what its worth...........Which bike is faster at any given track? The answer is it depends on the rider.
Now head to the dragstrip and of course y2k's zx12 will destroy a mildly modded zx14. I love both bikes its great we have a choice.
I go to bike nights and theres instant fear/respect/ sometimes doubt on a busa owners
face of course I've challenged a few and smoked them all . I show up on my zx12 and every busa punk thinks he can smoke me. (wrong!)
