Geez, I post up about Mr. Vincent Hill and ZX14 comments over in ZX12, and it immediately turns into a "ZX12 vs. ZX14" debate....and looks EXACTLY like some of the 'busa boards! (14 is to ugly, 14 engine is this and that, etc etc) just pure

The one and only comment that made sense to what the thread addressed was the one "If Mr. HILL would by a 14 he'd go faster!

You were not unclear. Damn dude you asked a question and you got the answers you deserved from a ZX12 board. Not everyone has money falling out there ass to buy multiple bikes. Not everyone likes the 14, accept it. I have ridden a couple, one with brocks and one with muzzy. Yea they are nice, but a replacment for my 12 ......imo, NO. Like Y2K said why spend 6000 on 10 extra HP. I didnt notice MAJOR handling improvments either, just better brakes. Hell putting 6000 into a nice 12 will slaughter a mildly modded 14. Just my .02$

+1

see what I mean? Again my thread at zx12 had nothing to do with wanting a comparison of bikes. It was not about a ZX12 vs. a ZX14 debate, it was about Mr. Hill's comments. uggggggg..... may as well be "my stock busa' is better than your stock 14"

Well, I spent $1,695 on the 1375 kit from Muzzys last year and its making at least 20 HP more than a piped/pc-III zx14. So for 1/3 the cost I got 200% more gains than if I bought a zx14.

Handling? Well if any of you piped zx14 owners want to show up for a track day at NHIS this comming summer to show me how much lower the lap times are with a zx14 be my guest. You can have anyone ride the bike for you if you like. But if you dont ride the bike yourself then I can have someone else put some lap times down as well.
The slower lap time bike pays for both parties expenses for the day.

Then we can go to the drag strip. Again, If you want another person to ride your zx14 thats cool too. But same applies for me too.

That would cover Handling and acceleration and it would be a lot of fun.

Any takers?

This topic got threadjacked too! Look at my FIRST post...this is NOT another silly ZX12/busa vs. ZX14 debate!

Lets do the math here..

Cost of my zx14
10,700 otd
1,300 pipe and p/c
150 Chain and ext
600 air shifter ... Didn't need it to go 8s but fun anyway
12.750.00 total bucks to go 8s

Price given to me for a new zx12
10.400 otd
1,300 pipe and p/c
150 chain and exts
1,695 for a Muzzy 1375 kit
13,545 total to run as fast or maybe a little faster as my stock motored zx14 ....Now you will say you can pick up a used zx12 and do it much cheaper , but i could wait a year or so and pick up a cheap used zx14 and do it cheaper also.. Now let me add a 1415 big bore kit to my zx14 for under 1,500 bucks and see what happens.........

Yup I rode ZX12's after they came out (brand new) and were hyped as the "true 'busa killers". I love the ZX12, but its no secret they lost on the strip and lost on the sales floor. There are several still around around here in Tampa now, when I'm lucky I ride one. Oh and I squid totalled a ZX9 back in the day too, does that count

But my intent is not to knock the ZX12 at all. Mr. Hill has knocked my 14 for quite some time and thats OK too. If you look at my posts, I've tried to avoid another ZX12/ZX14 debate anyway.

Reminder of my thread topic above:

"Geez, I post up about Mr. Vincent Hill and ZX14 comments over in ZX12, and it immediately turns into a "ZX12 vs. ZX14" debate....and looks EXACTLY like some of the 'busa boards! "

So thats a "no" on a zx12r vs zx14 road race and drag race direct comparison?

I think it would be fun.

Oh and on the point of adding 10k to your cost estimate?

Well you could go buy a $4000 tired 7 year old zx12r and add the 1375 kit to it and smoke a 14.
So that point is just spin also.

Bike loyalty will make a man go blind. I love my 14 and have rode 12's before, both have strong points and weakness. Old technology vs new it's all the same arguement. When somebody comes out with a better/faster bike then the 14 i will buy it and listen to people tell me i should have kept my 14. Everybody ask why i bought a 14 and i say it's a good platform to build off of, and just think how fast you will be able to make the 14 with 7 years of R&D.
