Question for Drag Racers using race fuel

I picked up 5 Gallons of U4 fuel for next weeks drag racing ...I don't want to put anymore fuel than is needed ...Question is will the zx14 run with only one gallon of fuel in the tank with no problems . Will one gallon cause a problem uncovering the pump or pick up causing starvation?

Weight has nothing to do with it... I have to remove it after every race and the more fuel in the tank the more i waste getting it out...

One gallon is plenty. I usually watch the bars on the fuel guage. As long as there one bar left your fine. You should get alteast 3-5 passes before having to check or before that last bar disappears.

I run two bars on the fuel guage when racing, so l like the weight for now. I gotten 6-7 pasess when starting with two bars and had gas left over.

Mine was flashing EMPTY and i drained the tank i got one gallon out of it...So if i put one gallon back in it will not be showing any bars on the gauge...

Was that with the regular 89 or U4?
U4 will burn quicker with your set up.
I tried the fuel (U4) once to see if there would be any gains, I also have different set up than you. Stk Pipes & no PC.

One gallon should get you down the track a few times before having to fill up some more.
Keep the front wheel on the grould.

Lee,I dont leave as hard as you do.(I have an 03 12)When my fuel level gets low,I can get my bike to bog when I leave.I like to keep more than 1 gallon in the bike, the possibility of bogging the bike on a great leave far outweighs the gains of the weight savings of keeping just 1 gallon on the bike.I would keep a little more than 1 gallon just to prevent that.

Sunoco on Dale Maybry is selling what they claim to be "100 Octane Race Fuel". I watched a friend fill his 'busa with the stuff.

Its $5.99 a gallon.

Smokey I get easy 4 passes from the time the guage starts to flash empty.
Never tried to take it any farther to see when it runs out, pushing sucks!

However, I have filled my tank right at empty on the guage and it took 4.3 gals.
So mine must come on way earlier than yours.

Steve that fuel smells good but that about all it does......The octane is to high and will slow down a zx14.....Your friends Busa will run better with good old 87 octane pump gas ....

I fill mine up full., Want the weight up front. Just my 2c.
I had a quick drain installed, so its easy to drain after I'm done.

Dunno, I'll tell you when I pick up the bike. Just told the guy at ATP to install a quick drain on the fuel tank so I could drain the C16 out of it after I'm done racing.

You need the extra weight up front, your too skinny.

Only gains for me were 3 MPH.
I believe rider error was screwing up the E.T. I didn't go quicker than my 9.67 on 91octane.
With a pipe and tuned right I expect to pick up close to a tenth and 3-4mph on U4 and a bit more on MR9.

Not sure I want to try that MR10 stuff yet. I'll let other test that.

When I ran mr9 in mine, I would run it down to when it started flashing "empty"...then I would ride it probaly another 20-30 minutes to run as much gas out of it as possible. When the light flashes empty you still have a gallon left in the tank. With mr9 i picked up 3 mph and was good for a tenth and a half, the bike was tuned for 89 octane. Bye the end of the year i learned to ride the bike better and matched my time with the mr9 running regular 89 octane. One of the biggest /simplest things I learned last year was when i installed my catalyst seat...it was good for almost a tenth because i was more comfortable launching the bike, and it's 8 pounds lighter than the stock seat. Try one out Lee i think you will like it...might be cheaper than 5-10 gallons of race gas.

Remember i have no ass, i can't set on that fiber glass and ride a bike ... I road big tire bikes years ago with that type of seat and damn near killed me ...No padding no riding ..lol... I like my stock seat and i will not even cut it down...Smokin
