Would anyone be so kind as to post a pic or 2 on how setup the suspension for the
drags!!! I weigh 190,maybe 200 suited. And learning how to set the compression and damping might help me pick up a tenth or 2. The spring is still set on the factory setting. The bike is lowered just like brocks setup. But I'm needing some direction as to which way would be the best for someone my weight, a good starting point if you will.

When you release the clutch you want the bike to squat and stay there. For the rear shock set the compression soft and the rebound hard. Relaxing the preload on the spring will help lower the bike. As long as the rear tire doesn't hit the inner fender you should be OK. Generally that should help the launch also. Front fork: you want as little movement as possible so compress them as much as you can with the strap (no spring preload) and set the rebound full stiff. Get out there and practice. Good Luck.

Well I'll be more specific, which screws do what and which way do you turn them to get the desired effect.Or where can I find the info to see for myself?

I burned a hole the size of my fist into the undertail. I'm 235 suited and had to adjust the spring preload all the way to try and get it to stop...it never did.

, The ZX-14 has a soft rear shock, My rider is 170 with gear on, and it rubs with the shock being revalved. I am learning there ar alot of variables to suspension and Chassis set up. To the point where we have one of the suspension greats coming to watch the bike this weekend, to figure out whats best

Preload does not increase spring compression rate. I also made this mistake to no avail.

No, you shouldn't rub or you will ruin your undertail. The reason that I ask is to understand which way you should adjust. Given that you are not rubbing you can lower your bike more or you can reduce your compression damping to get the maximum rear drop on launch. I'm 195 and I have the compression damping set as high as it will go and I rub when I launch because I'm extended +5. Smokin only weighs 150 and he rubs because he leaves like a beast. As you leave harder and harder your tail will drop more and more. Keep increasing your compression damping to keep from rubbing. Pretty soon you will have maxed it out and you will need to increase your spring rate, re-valve, or buy a better shock. I've read elsewhere that a stronger spring from Hypercoils ($100) is a good substitute for a $700-$1000 shock, but it doesn't sound like you are in need of a higher spring rate yet.

That's a great post and thank you but I have some questions about it. When they guy says He's setting it stock(that's obvious to me) and magazine?? Does that mean he's setting it for sport riding on the street?? Or are those settings for drag racing? I appreciate your time.

The bikes that rub are stock wheelbase, I don't think the stretched ones are rubbing.

cranking the spring will help alittle, but not like what you want. It's not a replaceing the spring though. I'm 7 out and fat so i'm going to rub no matter what i do. Going to make a stubber to go on the shock shaft to work as a bump stop. You can pick up the poly end bar links at autozone for like 10 bucks...drill the hole out larger and slide them over the shock shaft, you can also stack them.

I'm stock wheelbased and slammed all the way around and dont rub.
Blue Mule,
If your bike is sitting as it is in your signature pic you shouldn't have to worry about rubbing, you dont weight that much and your not slammed. I would first try playing with the compression and dampening adjustments on the shock. You might also want to try lowering the link to the 3rd hole, to see if your chassis works better, and see if the tails rubs. I
