I believe there's lots more to be seen. The first 1397 busa's were not making the figures we're seeing today.

This bike isn't even a year old yet. Plenty of potential left to be found!

jjc1800 what ore size is that you are going with. is it the standard 2 mm which is 1417 or a 3mm like coby for the 1450.

Also brock yeha i would like to hear what you have to say about upgraded valve spring kit and when and when you would not go with aftermarket cams such as if i did just the 1450 a ported head and the tranny works should i still opt for after market cams or only do cam in the event that i do a stroker motor

1417 kit for the ZX14

You might be interested to know that Bob Carpenter believes the ZX12 head is superior to the ZX14 head; seems the ports on the 14 are too large etc.

Someone was working on a turbo that would be completely under the fairing, but maybe you can still hear it, I dunno.

I have not had time to finish the turbo yet, but it is inside the fairing (with filter inside as well) and should end up quiter. 250..nothin' - I can get that w/o serious boost or internal mods and get better avg gas milage :-) Even w/ my added water injection and electronics I am way under what that big cc kit is going to cost. I do believe I could get close to 350 at the tire ........more later.

At least I did get the paint done - here is one:

You can see the turbine there and the comp is to the left and has a filter on. I have not yet made the pipe exiting the turbine, but it should fit inside the fairing or be damn close - stubby pipe for racing can be directed down or out of the hole in the fairing.

350 hp w/o engine mods? I didn't think that was possible without forged pistons and such. What type of hp are you thinking for $3200? Sounds like something I'd be VERY intersted in.

Base set-up has a 5.80psi (.4bar) spring - so whatever we can pull from that boost. More boost will need more parts, but I think almost nobody on a street bike riding on the streets can use the power of almost 6psi.

One of the big reasons to go turbo instead of big bore is that you don't have to remove the whole damn motor.........PIA. A bigger motor is a bigger motor, but I prefere the stock-like ride when there is no boost and then when you want some......BAM! - it's on.

BUT - they each have their place. I would love to take the big bore for a spin.....

Non doubt. suppying a map to would be great now i know i am going to wait for your kit to debut. Can i quote you on this by saying 350 hp with no internal mods.I already have the muzzy NO2 and air-shifter set-up. will that be a plus. i have hear a little No2 can help a turbo spool up quicker.

Also with the new turbo set-ups is there much turbo lag. I have seen many bikes with equal riers get beat by nitrous bikes because of turbo lag. Thogh the riders were equal in talent i know you have to learn all over again how to ride with a turbo bike.

Don't quote me on any numbers until I spin the dyno drum :-)

Lag sucks in your car, but on a bike it can be your friend (friends don't loop you) I am using a physically smaller turbo than the Garrett so it will have diff characteristics.

As with any high power machine it takes some skill/control from the operator.

I don't like the OFF/ON of nitrous (unless you have stages and controllers)
With a turbo you can rev the bike hard and when you clutch (apply load) it will come up quick enough when you consider traction and wheelbase issues - talk to some of the turbo riders.

If it's over 280hp for $3,200 I want one. I think I'll have a lot of trouble using more hp than that, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice if it comes out to be 350hp

Just curious, do you expect that 1417 kit to sacrifice significant lowend and midrange power for a massive gain at high revs or do you think it will be a huge increase throughout the rev range?
