The 14 has been out for awhile
I'm starting to think about buying one. Since I haven't been keeping up on here. Pipe, PWC, Air cleaner. What kind HP are we looking at?

I will say this I dont know if the 14 is like super detuned from the factory or what? But I have owned and ridden a lot of bikes from a CBR 900 RR to a Busa to a ZX10 and now the 14 and I have NEVER seen a bike that respondes so well to modification has anyone else noticed this or is is just me. I myself picked up right at 20 HP from just a pipe and a PC on my Busa I installed a full micron system on it and only picked up 8-9 depending on the map. I have a Full Akrapovic Evo II system on my ZX10 and it picked up 10 HP over stock. I just cant figure it out but the 14 just keeps getting faster and faster

this is what i experienced with my zx14. it is so fast that in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear i don't have a moment to look down at speedometer and see how fast i go.
that was not the case with my 3 previous busas.
i guess going to 16/42 gear made it even worse.

Well the 14 is choked up , as it has restrictive and HEAVY catalytic converters.
Also they tuned the throttle injection and STP's to make the bike ridable for a wider consumer group.
The older gentlemen will appreciate the smooth bottom end, whereas the animals will really appreciate the bottom end pull with STP removed.
The pull into redline is very impressive with some of the better exhausts, not only will it pick up 12-15RWHP with one of the better pipes, but will pick up 25RWHP near redline and give it a much flatter fatter curve from 9000 rpm right till 11.5!
The curve doesn't drop off! It pulls right into the rev limiter
and yes 16 tooth front or better yet 16/43 will really make you grin!
Gearing it for an rpm limited top speed of 180-186 mph, rather than 200 mph will give it the same top speed and mechanical advantge the litre bikes, and will really show the muscle of the 14.
It will thoroughly stomp those pesky litre bikes in a straight line with simple mods.
The suspension needs to be stiffened up IMO though.
Traxxion cartridges, ohlins shock and stiffer springs methinks

Ya Dubious...exactly, but once you do the 16/43's and flies out...the problem is that this big heavy pig of a bike, will not stay on the ground anymore from 1st-3rd.

I don't think we've seen what this bike can truly offer yet with the bolt on goodies alone. Akrapovic pipe everyone is waiting for and wanting like it's the Playstation 3. More experimentation over the winter with maps and tuning may surprise us even more. To supplement bolt on's, I don't think anyone's put agressive cams into the mix yet. Lots of room for improvement in the heads too.

Carpenter, ad orient do head work and cams.
they're waiting for your call
about 215 rwhp with cams and head work. and higher compression pistons. = $2000
another 10rwhp for bbore, $700 and $500 again for the pistons if you do this afterward
and another 10rwhp for stroker crank. another $2000
these are approximate numbers, I got back in September or October.
Almost forgat, Colby Adams is building similar packages

I'm very happy with the first season on my 1400. The TiForce system seems as good as any I've seen for bhp and 205mph is not too bad either.
This winter I have one or two items to look at for more power and speed without getting into head work or anything that requires opening the engine. Once you decide to do that it's a question of bhp for bucks. How deep are your pockets ?

When Muzzy first came out with the stroker and piston kit for the 12,they said it would easily get you into the 8's.It may be that the 14 has a longer stroke but I haven't seen the #'s in either to get it there.

I put on 10K miles From June 23rd to Oct 17 when I low-sided. It has been the best thing I have ever owned and expect to have it a while - esp w/ more mods going on.

I love my 14.
Prior to this I had a ZZR1200 (which I thought was plenty quick enough) but the 14 stomps all over it in the acceleration and handling departments. And did I mention the looks??
I'm not going to alter much on the stock bike, other than fit my new Area P slipons over the winter, and a better screen (as the standard screen is just too low for me)...
I can appreciate why a lot of owners are removing the flies but it's not a modification I will be carrying out myself. I quite like the tractability of the old girl in heavy traffic, the fuel injection is a delight (after coming from a couple of VFR's with their snatchy throttles). If I want a fast overtake I just snick it down a gear or two and hit the magic powerband and I'm away. When that tacho hits 5k it is" warp factor 10 Mr Sulu " and I am loving it. I don't think that I would like to be on the power all the time especially over here with our traditional Englishshire weather!
I do a bit of touring with the missus on board and the stock seat is a revelation compared to the excuse of a pillion seat they fitted to the 12. They must have designed it during their teabreak in Japan I reckon.
This bike is the bike I have always promised myself, and I can see me keeping her for a long, long while.
