Problems on the Dyno!

Just make sure that any of you taking your bike to be run on the Dyno that you are not above the Bottom line in the Oil site Window

Second, make sure the run is done in 5th Gear (the only gear not Nutered by Kawasaki).
A friend of Mine just went through a Horror Story where they THOUGHT they blew up the bike on the Dyno! White Smoke and everything big Oil in the Air Box. Thanks to Brock there is going to be an Happy Outcome.

I spoke to him for a While today and he is totally right about one thing! He has seen more problems from things we cannot imagine than things we actually know something about. I felt better about the Trials I had gone through on my 12 after speaking to him and when I get EVERYTHING DOne, I am taking my Bike to Him for a final inspection before I race it next year! YES, I am actually going for outside help something I never thought I would find myself saying. He Knows THAT Much and I am taking my Pocket Book and what ever the Bill is, it will be CHEAP Compared to what i have already gone through!

Vince I am going to have to disagree with you on this one! there is no way I would do that...

I have heard and know people that get better #'s by running the oil lower, but in my eye's there is no way it would be worth it... your A/F and Power Curve is the most important part of tuning on the dyno... not the final # you drive away with.

Damned straight. Yes, don't overfill. But go too low and it only takes a single gulp to really ruin your day...

There is no Accell or Decell on the dyno (To throw the oil to the Back or the Front of the Pan) and a 14 owner just went through Hell0 over having his bike oil level at the top mark! Wheelies have it completely full, Drag Racing have it completely full on the dyno if it is full and it starts smoking or has Oil in the Airbox this may be the problem! Trust me on this one!

I keep mine near the top line and have run on the dyno a lot.....no problems.
The pan is not flat and the pick-up is in the low area..........

I have a good friend that bought one in spite of what I told him! DO not listen to me NOW but when or if you come off of the Dyno with your bike smoking and Oil in the AIr Box remember this thread and save yourself a LOT of problems! NO I do not have one and no plans while I am alive to get one either but that does not mean that If I see something I will not tell you poor guys that do have one!

I am not making this up and I am not alone in this opinion either!

My bike has only been on the dyno twice so far, but no problems either time. In fact no problems at all with the machine.

LOL. My bike too was beat up on the dyno and never had smoke once OR oil in the airbox.

We even changed the oil right on the dyno with the bike strapped down and filled it to the oil line that you speak of. Your bud musta got a lemon.

No problems with my 14 on the dyno Vincent. The oil was at the standard level. The thing the operator kept his eye on most was temperature, he was feeling the engine case every minute or so and we stopped a couple of time to rest it. Better figures with a cooler engine too. Looked great with the headers glowing cherry red

This is Advance Warning so that if it EVER Happens, you will not think the engine Blew up and take it apart and waste a lot of time. You Guys are sure not understanding what I did here! it is also the only one I know of also, but if it happened to you and you were the ONLY one that it happened to this information would sure save you a LOT Of Grief! Next time I will just keep it to myself and then If I see something that I knew about in advance I will wait until it is over and then Give the information on what I already knew! Better yet, this has become like a BUSA Web site but worse so because at least they treat me better Is it just too hard to understand that some People that Love Kawasaki's just do not like the Busa I mean the ZX14 !!

Vince the 14 is still a Kawasaki...You need to ride the 14 as you would a Kawasaki...Yes it has that Kawasaki trait...You still need to do the Snap 'n Slide with the clutch!!!

The Busa is still easier to ride!!!

My 10R will push oil out the CCV if it's too full. Anything above the middle of the window is too full for it on the dyno.. I have a K&N filter that sits just above the clutch cover behind the frame on the 10R and it will start to drip if it's over filled..

DO not tell them anything, let those that have the 14's find out for themselves then they will believe it and there will be a New thread telling all about it!

Any bike will puke oil if overfilled enough and ran the piss out of on the dyno. It's nothing ZX-14 specific like it's trying to be made out to be...

many will do whatever they wil do..........

no wisdom in that statement

fact is many 10's....12's... 14's
will spit oil thru vents & into the air filter
most of the time it has little to do with the oil level
unless the sump is overtly over full

simply measure the distance from the crank to the site window
the crank IS NOT running in the wet sump !!!!!!

no less after the engine pulls the crank supply (runnin on the pump)
the residual amount in the galleys & valve area
at Least 1/3 is further removed from the wet sump

i would NOT run my engine low.........EVER !!!
maybe under reduced low booty trollin/blvd cruzn
NO other time

more than likely the orig problem
is associated or can be attributed to
excessive windage......................
at HIGH load & HI rpms
no less the sump being pressurized....!!!!
NOT ENUFF OR PROPER VENTING

with any number of hoses
EPA associated & ancillary Emissions devices
that dont rear their Ugly heads
during Normal riding
even the occasional run thru a gear or 2

that steady LOADING on a dyno will do it

drawing 1 quart of hot viscous oil
up to the level of the airbox
is akin to suckin on a milk shake straw
no less the engine is a 180hp ........PUMP

id check
tubing
vents &
other devices
b4 i throw the baby out with the bath h2o
the proverbial qt of oil

Least we forget about tall of the Problems with the "Correct" amount of Oil in the 12? The WIndow is not correct but the amount you put in must be the correct amount. We are not talking LOW but the Correct amount. The site glass is only a reference. On a 12 you drain the Oil and replace the filter and add 3 Quarts. Bring my window to the just above the Bottom line in the window
