Buell pegs mounted on Corbin peg lowering kit

Here are a couple of pictures of the Buell pegs mounted on a Corbin peg lowering kit. This set up lowers the pegs about a total of 2 inches. My knees appreciate the extra room. This set up works pretty well except occasionally I do scrape the pegs. Lee

How is the positioning with the gear and brake levers with the lowering kit. I know it's gotta be different but please explain how and whether or not it affects access and control to these.

It is a little different in the fact that I had to raise the shift lever 1 spline. Also you have to ride a little pigeon toed to reach the shift lever because the lowering kit has spacers so the pegs clear the exhaust pipes which moves the pegs away from the bike from the normal position about 3/4s of an inch. The brake lever was able to be adjusted lower with no problems. You will have to adjust the brake light switch but that is easy. Any other questions, let me know. Lee

Looks good for my long legs (36" inseam) a few questions (1)do you have to modify the pegs to fit? which Buell pegs do you get? Do the Corbin extenders require modification of the shifter?

It appears tht if you move the pegs more forward then the shifter would be hitting the top of your instep..
Thanks Mark

I used this model footpeg: Rider Footpegs for XB Models N0006.1AD. Bought at a Harley/Buell dealer for about $30.00. You will have to file them to to make them fit. The Corbin lowering kit does not require you to modify the shifter. I did move the shift lever up 1 spline. The Corbin kit will make you sit a little pigeon toed so I also bought an aluminum shift lever cover from a place called Pirates Lair ( it was expensive at $40.00). It fits over the shift lever toe piece and extends the toe piece about a half inch so you don't have to ride pigeon toed. As far the shift lever hitting your instep, I wear an older style size 11 Bates Fast Lane Touring Boot and it hits right at base of my big toe, perfect. I guess it depends on the size of your foot as to where the shift lever hits. This link should show the shift lever peg extender. Hope this helps, Lee. http://piratesk12site.net/PegSlow.htm

Thnks Lee.. Do you have any pictures or instructiions on how to modify the Buel pegs to retrofit the ZX? I have the left side Buel peg but they had to order the other side. I was lloking at it and it seems it will take a lot of grinding to get it the same width as the Kawa peg.. I beleive the hole will also have to be drilled out some for the Kawa pin to fit..

Thanks for your help

I'm confused- Buell is pure crap and thats no secret anyway, why put such junk products on a ZX14 anyway. And if comfort and posture is your gig, why did you purchase a ZX14?

I love sportbikes but with a 36 to 37" inseam I'm limited as to how long I can ride with the stock setup. The pictures above show MORE legrom with the offset Buell pegs. When you are 6'5" and have long legs many things in life are a compromise.. This was the only sportbike I could even remotely consider riding.. I had a Yamaha FJR 1300 before this bike but I wanted something a little more exciting and better handling...

I've tried the Corbin set up, Didn't like it. The pegs are moved out too far and this makes shifting a real awkward adventure! Also the Corbin set up moves the pegs FORWARD as well... this makes getting you're foot between the peg and the shifter real hard. (size 13 feet)

I've tried the Corbins and the Buells together... The legroom feels good until you have to shift, they stick out too far! Will need another shifter to make it work.

Took the Corbins OFF and just using the Buells now ... feels much better. Had to move the shifter DOWN 1 notch from stock. Modifiying the Buells to fit is a snap! The "pin hole" needs to be drilled out slightly and they need to be filed down a little. No problem.

juat a thought..would it be possible to just bend the shifter lever out some so it could align up wiht the new pag lowering? I assume it is make of aluminum and could be heated and bent...

If it was steel you could get away with heating it and bending it. But aluminum is a different story. I think it would make it brittle and more prone to breakage. I looked at some shifters on dirt bikes to get some other ideas and the one on a (06) KX 250 looked like it might work. I just don't know if the shift shaft is the same size or not. The "bend" seemed like it was close to something that would work.
