I agree we all need to ride defensively. I personally ride as if everyone else on the road is trying to run me over.

With that said, I still don't see the point in making a bike less visable. If the drivers are that bad, wouldn't you want everything else working in your favor?

Robsong,
I'm not sure what you meant about the paint not reflecting like the windscreen, but if you paint the inside of the screen it shouldn't matter.

I wish I could see of a red screen on a red bike. I think that would look nice but I'd rather see it first. I'll probably go with the clear version of the race screen though, since I'll need to see through it as high up as it comes. Anyone know, is the race version actually supposed to reduce drag?

Painting the inside was what I was talking about. But I understand that Puig screens fix this problem from the factory.. I was just telling someone if they had another screen with that problem I heard that painting it fixed them.. Thanks for the input..

I believe the bags are pretty aerodynamic actually. One of the Corbin reps said someone made some runs with them on the salt flats with sand bags in them. Of course they didn't actually tell me the results. I was mostly just curious about the drag on the windscreen. I assume the double bubble has a purpose, is it drag?

I considered the touring screen but I actually think the 14 has just the right amount of wind blast on the interstate to support my upper body and get some weight off of my hands.

Any input on how the racing screen affects highway comfort? Does it cause any more wind noise or helmet buffeting?

Bags have huge drag and very fucked up aerodynamics...whoever said they don't, well that's just a crock. I seriously doubt Corbin has, or would ever put time into wind tunnel testing to lower drag coefficient, as they're concerned only with selling product...they don't test any of it to any great degree in any case. That Corbin rep you speak of...sounds like an urban legend sales pitch to me...who would bother with tests like that? Corbin has a penchant for building products that don't work well and their QC sucks. I've had Corbin for decades, their seats are ok, but as far as the rest of their products go...QC and testing leave much to be desired...hell, they can't even get the seats to fit right...every one they build needs to be adjusted or returned for exchange. Do a search on this board for their ZX14 peg solution and have a good laugh...

The double bubble only serves to move the wind higher up over your head with the least amount of drag, but I actually like the wind further down, as it serves to lighten the load on my wrists at somewhat lower speeds. Helmet buffeting will depend on the rider..

When someone (especially one who has much to gain in this case) makes a statement like the one they did about loading bags with sand for a test ride on the flats, I get kinda skeptical about that...don't you?

Sure I was skeptical, but they didn't actually lie about anything. And they weren't the ones that decided to run the bags on the salt flats according to the sales rep. I'm guessing it was some guy trying to add a little weight in the rear to prevent wheel slip. Maybe the person that tried them was an idiot or was just curious.

I've been up to 180 indicated with the bags and the speedo was still climbing fast. I don't have any other complaints about them either. I did read about the fiasco with the pegs, that's kinda sad.

I like the wind lower also, but I thought the screen would be nice when I'm laying on the tank. I've had problems with mid sized screens causing a lot of head buffeting, and that's really annoying, I'd prefer to avoid that.

Got the screen today. A quick question for those that have already installed.....did you have to apply pressure to the screen to get it to line up with the mounting screws? I did, acutally quite a bit, with it in the mounting position with no screws I had a gap of over an inch I had to close up to get it mounted.

Great finish, and otherwise a nice screen. The look is definetly better than stock.

rodanst6 - Did your screen have that huge R1400 logo in the middle of it? If so, is it easy to remove?

The big "R" on the screen may be the perfect answer for those that insist on getting a ZX-14R.

Can someone tell me how the race version (double bubble) feels on the highway when sitting up, turbulence, noise, etc? I'd like to get one for when I'm laying down but I don't want it to make me uncomfortable when I'm just cruising. Please include your height with your opinions.

Hey Rodan how does your Corbin fit on the bike? Is it a good fit because I've heard mixed reviews....

Okay you got me going now........When I got it, try as I might I could not get the seat to line up and click into place. I finally had to bend the U-bracket on the back of the seat that snaps into the bike to get it to "click on". Then I couldn't get it off I would turn the key and the mechanism would never open. This was because I had bent the bracket to reach the closer. So after beating the @#$%^$ out of it I got it off.

I called Corbin to complain and they asked me to bend the u bracket straight again like it was when I got it and to apply some lubricant to the two tabs on the front of the seat and low and behold......slid right on and worked perfectly! Corbin explained that the clearance on the front tabs is tight to insure a perfect seal of the seat on the gas tank. Seat fits perfectly (and probably always did), taught me a leson though....companies have a customer service number for a reason and usually the people on the other end have heard your problem before and have a solution.

Sorry for the long reply.

I've seen on several places on the Corbin site and the papers that come with a new seat, that their tolerance is lower than the stock seats so the seats are a little harder to get on. I'm ordering the 14 seat soon, I have a Corbin seat on my KLR650 and, thought it was tight, I had no real problems getting it on. You just have to tap it kinda hard toward the gas tank before you latch the rear of the seat.
