A question for SMOKIN Hey Smokin I am gonna be getting a new tire soon and I read somewhere you think the Shinko is too heavy what tire would you recommend for a 300 pound guy runnin SMEG no flies PCIII and a 50 shot of Nitrous with an Air shifter I mostly street race you know underground style... maybe make it to the strip 3 times every six months. (more money to be made on the street) also clutches just started slippin pretty bad I have 6000 HARD miles on my bike where is the cheapest place to get oem clutches and anyspecial recomendations on clutch mods or anything (i already have the heavy duty springs from schnitz) also keep in mind I might be stretching my bike over the winter havnt made up my mind yet

Sorry man-- Smokin gave up fast bikes and now raises cats on his cat farm. Some of them are pretty fast though.

lol I would use a stock tire for stock wheel base on the street ...If you make it longer no tire is going to help you hook on the street ...On the clutchs go OEM... I got mine here> http://www.schnitzracing.com/ 195.00 plus shipping .... There maybe better deals out there so check around ...Smokin..

Do you have all 5 of the Schnitz heavy duty springs installed? Is it difficult to pull in?

The shinko is the cheapest most easly available tire to get out there. If your worried about weight go with a 180 u-soft instead of the 190. If you street race alot you will need the stickiest tire you can get. You could go with a shootout tire from M/T but dont expect to get too many miles out of it. To be honest a guy your size doesnt need a huge/sticky tire to hook. Stock wheelbase bikes hook alot better then stretched bikes but are more wheelie prone. On your clutch you can go replace with oe's but alot of talk now it to replace the fibers with zx11fibers because they have bigger contact pads and their exactly the same size as the 14 fibers. You will still have to buy OE steels but you can pick up zx11 fibers cheap. Personally I would go with the cheaper cork style fibers because you still want some slip, if you went with the kevlars it might get alittle sticky.

bu, are you going with zx11 fibers?? Got some part #'s for the order??
Just got an oem from Schnitz, but I'm sure I'll be going through fibers next year.

I do have all 5 heavy duty springs installed but when I change the clutches out I am putting 2 of the stock springs back in the clutch doesnt want to disengage all the way with all 5 of them in there

You know why this is brilliant? Because you can buy low usage takeoffs with brand new center sections from your local road racers for cheap!!!
My last Pirelli had some 200 passes, 1000 street miles, and a bunch of rolling burnouts on it. The tire hooks with 25 psi!
Plus the added tire height gives you abit more gear.

Smokin, I got my clutches in last night. The old one was whipped. One of the steels near the center was warped pretty bad. I could barely get it out.
CrotchRocket, I saw you wrote on another thread that the plates should be soaked over night. I didn't do that but I did dip them in oil before I put them in. They were dripping wet when they went in. I am assuming this will be suffice? Thanx.

Dipping the frictions in oil is a must !!!...Soaking them over night is best, but as long as you dip them everything will be fine...

Probaly...alot cheaper. Hopefully next year a lock-up will help alittle. I hope somebody tries this set-up before next year...my bike's put up for the winter or I would try it myself.
