I still like the 14 in the morning
i still like how the bike pulls when its cold. It accelerates harder then at normal temp range. Oh well.

You have the flies out? The only difference would be timing at that point...maybe locking it in N or 6th with the resistor might fix that? I've heard that locking it in N does fix the popping on decel issue....

Sure, I can see why, consider the following.
In gear and under deceleration, Kawasaki scheduled the ECM to cut off fuel above a certain rpm and when fuel is reintroduced we get the deceleration "pop". The fuel cutoff feature would not happen in neutral as the engine decelerates too quickly and there is little need as no real fuel savings would be had. Installing the resistor to trick the ECU into believing the trans is in neutral would deactivate the fuel saving deceleration cutoff feature. I think this MAY be problematic, if the ignition advance curve is different, or less than optimum, for making power in the actual selected gear.
Just somethin' to ponder . . .

I must be lost where this thread went, he stated he likes how the bike runs in the cool air in the morning. Not the temp on the bike. Mine also runs better in the morning cool air.

Ivan's new TRE locks the bike in N and the guys on ZX14NINJA.com say it works great. It would very easy to use a switch to move the lock from 6th to N. That way, you can play all you want and see what works better. If he says that it runs better in cold in this post, then a few things come to mind...
1) Running richer
2) All timing retardation removed
I agree with the ignition advance statement you brought up...but if Ivan is selling an 006 and 008 TRE with good results on both, (yet to be verified by a pro) then making my own switchable TRE is a thought. I've been dealing with that popping on decel all year since I installed the Hindle stuff from Brock and was looking for a cheap and easy fix. This works, but does it hinder performance? I'm wondering about that. Tell you the truth, I don't feel like spending a grand to install an ignition module and a hub and find mapping to get rid of the popping and pick up a few lousy ponies. I'd just like to get rid of the popping and the retarded timing in that results in a tad of hesitation when I snap to WOT in the upper gears.
BTW, I won't buy a TRE... can make one for a few cents with the 2-way switch I need to move it from 6th to N at will.
