Mine went in today for the second time for the leak around the left side of valve cover gasket. Dealer called Kawi, and Kawi told them this time to replace some bolts (I forgot the name) in additon to putting new gasket and the head cover on and it should be fixed.

Guess I'll see soon

Appears I may have to beat 'em up for that, or at least a new head, on the 3rd trip!

You would not ride your bike because the valve cover has a small leak?
I don't think you have anything to worry about unless it's running down the engine
or bad enough to cause the oil level to drop. Many zx12 had the oil stain around the
valve cover gasket and cam pick-up, only noticed with the plastic off .
I can tell you never owned a Harley.

And I used to bust on Harley for being "oil-leaking" junk....now my bike is in for the 2nd time for just that. I HAVE BEEN HUMBLED BY KHI

I still don't care for Harley much but the new ones don't lead oil I've been told. And they handle better:

well,...i got motor out and opened her up.No wonder head gasket was leaking, looks as if someone took a piece of 80 grit sandpaper and ran it across my block between# 3 and # 4.......it was causing it to seep out back of block just above thermostat housing...

So how to the valves, piston crowns and cylinder walls look? Don't know of anyone else that has opened up a '14 motor yet.

harley? what is that :d
my 02 zx12 did the same from right side, never did anything to it,never got worse or any better.
in case if i want to fix it the bike has to be left in their shop for few weeks because they are so backed up and short on mechanic and that is why i would be with no bike for few weeks. i just sold my gsxr1000. so i would be bikeless. the weather been nice in this area recently, in 70's.

So just fix it yourself, but no one in their right mind would expect Kawasaki to pay you for it...you're dreamin...btw..."someone else" built your bike...

"warranty isnt worth the paper it is written on"...I've had plenty of warranty work done on both my Kawasaki's and more recently, my R1, with no charges or issues at all...

Maybe you should just build your own bike...then it'd be built "rite" as you put it...

Yeah someone else "built it" but there are quality control mechanisms at the factory and each worker only focuses only on a few points...Torque wrenches are pre calibrated...Building a bike from the ground up is much easier because the process is laid out and the bike moves on to each step so it's almost impossible to miss something or put something together wrong.....

There is a HUGE difference between what goes on at the factories and what goes on at dealerships...

well my dealer said he would have to get the work cleared through kaw before they work on it. So ill be waiting to see what they say. If its the head i would go on and port it, raise the compression with a thinner head gasket and install some cams. Thats if the head needs to come off.

i will let anthony answer that question, i provided the battery tray to him,but i'm sure he could fab one the arm pictured is a 3"-7" slider,.......also he is also making a inner fender "tiger tail",but you would have to either cut out the bottom of the backseat,or run the cataylst dragseat,so you will have a place to mount your ecu box...which is no big deal for many,he was going to post in classifieds soon,i think he is on psychobike.com too
