quote: That Zx9 didnt make an "actual" 9 second pass. It was a corrected time. Corrected a full second from what I remember. Magazine riders are far less skilled than the lowest qualifying pro dragracer.
Ryan Schnitz owned a later model ZX9 with a pipe, jetting, and other minor tweaks and I believe he could peel off a 9.80 pass at stock wheelbase. This is a modified ZX9...not a stocker.
So if Ryan is 2-5/10ths quicker than most racers.... he's at least a full second faster than the mag fags... so you're 98 9second Zx9 is a total farce. Dont believe bullshit magazine claims. That year ZX9 is a 10.80 bike at best. Maybe a low 10sec et with a 120lb jockey on it.
Why dont you try riding your own bike and putting down your own times so when you "bench race" you'll sound alot more credible than nutswinging from Ryan or quoting some made up et for a magazine cover...lol.
quote:
Just as the ZX9R was the first production bike to go 9sec on stock motor/stock wheelbase it would great to have the 14 be the first one to go 8sec with stock motor and stock w/b.
I must be a Kawasaki fan.
Now I need to address Turboblew.
Unfortunately , as I have seen countless times on the internet someone has come on here and spoke prematurely and with disrespect about someones knowledge, whom they dont even know personally. I'll say this without being disrespectful to you.
#1 Ryan's time was uncorrected (Do a search there's video out there)
#2 The ZX9 was the first factory stock street bike to go 9sec Rickey G. did it in 1998
(9.99 @137mph uncorrected). Know your history if your going to speak on something, no I am not reading the back pages of a magazine. I'll help you out, find a copy of the Motorcycle Performance magazine There a complete article with Cover page and on. I can mail you copy if you would like.
#3 I ride the piss out of my bike, I've never bench raced. Been racing for a long time, cars and bikes. Am I'm talking street cars, I mean full blown tube chassis vehicles that fly, and dragbikes with training wheels as some may call them.
BTW whats the quickest you've been on a ZX14?
Thread was started to say ryan was very close to the 8sec zone a while ago, and with more time and tuning and in the right region I am sure he could have put this ZX14 in the 8's.
I'm done.

quote: Does anyone remember when Kaw released the ZX14 in Las Vegas.
And Ryan ran a 9.17 with a Muzzy setup. This was back in March/April i believe
That same bike should be able to go 8's if in the right region, and this time of year.
Seems to me Ryan would be well in the 8.9's if he were in Gainsville this past weekend
I wonder if Ryan and Rob M. did as much tuning on there's as Brock has done on his?
Understand this is not to bash muzzy or take away from Brock.
I was really impressed with the 9.17 in the State of Nevada especially so early in the year.
Figured i'd try an post the video

First off... I never said Ryans run on the ZX14 was corrected. Please reread my post as there is nothing remotely close to that assertion.
A 1998 ZX9 is not going 9 anything bone stock.(and 137mph is even funnier) Ill put up $1000 that says so. I explained to you that a few years ago Ryan owned a later model ZX9 with obvious bolt ons (and whatever tuning) that was running high 9s at stock wheelbase at sea level. Ryan is lighter than Ricky. So lb for lb he will be quicker on the same platform.
The article on them going 9s is a farce. With Kent Kunitsugu riding?? .....lol...please.
In that same article they listed the T595 as going 10.70@130.... it wouldnt go that fast with a small dry shot on it....lol
Other notables.... the R1 is almost 3/10ths slower but carries 4mph more through the traps???? Another laughable note!!!! And they have a 900rr going 132mph....lol.
Please keep that humor coming!!!!
Nelson... I dont make this shit up...try riding one of those bikes. I have a copy of that mag around just to laugh at all the freaks that bought that year POS Zx9.

I owned a 2001 ZX9R prior to the 14. 10.02 @138mph stk w/b, stk motor, pipe
I went 10.0's and low teens all day long.
Check Your PM Turboblew, I might be getting that Brock System sooner than I thought.
We can work payment arrangements out. (lol) Are you a man of your word???

Its reads uncorrected just to the side of this page.

Like I said... the 98s weren't that fast. And your 2001 was modified...so you dont qualify for the $1000....sorry.
I am a man of my word.
Find a bone stock, never been tampered with 1998 ZX9r and bring it to a sea level dragstrip.
Ill bring my $1000. You bring yours.

Just wanted 2 say i race at the same track as nelson. Ive seen him run 10.0s on a zx9. It was lowered and had a pipe. Hes about 180lbs i would say (correct me if im wrong). So i could see a pro rider going 9s on a zx9. I personally had a 2000 model zx9 best run was 10.40 . im no lightwieght. What im trying 2 say is nelson is no bench racer. If you want 2 see him race i bet his 14 will be running numbers next year. I know he could run low 9s on my 14 ,high 8s sprayin. Just my 2 cents . thanks

kawirick... I think you're missing the point here.
The 2000 model Zx9 was yet another revamp of the 98 model (ligher, more hp). Those are significantly faster than the 98 model. Couple the fact that the bikes you guys are racing are lower and modified.... its even more difficult to believe a 98 model is going 9 anything bone stock!
Benchmarking the 98 ZX9 as the first production bike in the 9s is a complete and utter farce.
