I had wondered what our bikes would do basically stock. Brock you and I suited our about the same weight. So you saved me the money going to maxton, lol. I'm sure mine wouldn't even go as fast being that I'm not running the mr9. Great read, seems like a blast

Nice write-up Brock. Did you decide whether it was the change of gearing to 40t or the A/F ratio that made the difference? Maybe both, it can be hard to tell when you change more than one thing.
When I ran my +200 I was on 18/41 gearing and a bit overgeared until the wind changed in my favour. Guess you always need a bit of luck too.

Question for you LSR guys, I was at the Tx mile, a couple of guys had trouble getting over 180, I suggested short shifting first 2 gears to get it into high gear earlier, seemed to help 1 bike, but it sounds like you were getting into high gear too early. My question is where do you shift each gear, and could you feel it nose over when it hit the limiter much or barely?

The advice I was given by the very experienced Trevor Duckworth was to spend as much time in 6th as possible. Settle down, tuck everything in and allow the airflow to stabilise around you and the bike, above all you must sit still.
Top speed events on tracks of around 1 or 2 miles are still sprints though, not like Bonneville, so obviously on a bike with just a modest amount of power that does not mean short shifting. What worked for me was a "quarter mile " type of start and I shifted up just before the engine red-line in each gear. That way I got into 6th as quickly as possible, going as fast as possible. My bike was geared 18/41 which gave 204mph at peak power ( as dyno'd ). The gearing must obviously be right for the conditions and the available engine bhp.

For two of my runs at Bonneville I couldn't get into 6th gear. I was trying to shift into 6th above 9,000 rpm. The pannel would read 6th gear but I knew I was in 5th. My fiftth gear runs were around 188-189 mph. From then on I always shiften into 6th at a lower PRM and never had a problem. Maybe that's what happened to your friends.
