Another night of drag racing ..1/4 mile

I was going to wait till Sat to go to the strip but talk of rain made me change my mind and go tonight......Good thing because i got to meet a bikeland member Burnout ...He was riding his black zx14, it's all stock but he does have it lowered one hole and had it strapped.... He ran some good numbers for a stock zx14 but i'll let him post his numbers ....Very nice to meet him...

I was still having problems with my 60 footers , i think with 170 runs on the stock clutch it maybe time to change them out ....The clutch is getting grabby but doesn't seem to be slipping ... Best pass of the night ...
60 foot 1.59
330 4.03
1/8 et 6.06
1/8 mph 123.28
1000 foot 7.79
1/4 mile et 9.251
1/4 mph 152.05

I had 3 runs at 9.26 @ 152 but i never could get my 60s down to the low 1.50s like i had in the past.....I did have one run that i ran 153 MPH !!!!!!
We didn't have the great air we had last night , today it was in the 80s and the humidity was up....Funny part i had my best runs when the sun was still out and as the night came i got slower ...lol.... Smokin....

Good Job Smokin, I know your looking for more.
And 170 passes on a stock clutch that taking 1.5's short times every trip is outstanding

Nice to hang with you as well Smokin'. When I saw that 153 MPH slip I thought for sure that you were going to crack the teens once it cooled down.

I've been working hard for the last month to get my MPH up and have been focusing on shift points and shifting speed as the key. Smokin lined up behind me on my first run and said "it's your tuck"....and he was right. I ended up gaining 2.5 MPH on the top end by getting into my tuck upon launch.

I had broken into the 9's right off the showroom floor with just a strap. I've since gone one tooth down in front thinking that I would be better able to 60ft...not the case. I've lowered the bike and have worked my ass off to get back into the 9's, which I did last night, gaining 0.04 for a new personal best ET.

After talking with Smokin', I'm seriously considering going back to a 17t, hell even Brock is running stock gearing. I plan to ride the bike stock wheel base for as long as I can so that I don't cheat myself out of becoming a better rider, once I do extend, however, I'll go back down.

Nice times burnout, when you decide to extend it are you still leaving it stock or putting pipe on as well?

Had you tried the 16/43 before or any other gearing?

A ceramic coated Brock Street Meg is on its way! I'll likely run stock wheel base until I transition from the street to track map, upgrading to an air shifter along the way before extending. This may take all Winter because I like to make small changes and push myself to get as much as I can from them. My thinking is that the slowest thing on my 14 is me. I'm a little torn about putting the Meg on as I had wanted to match the magazine stock ETs of 9.69, but realistically that's like putting a crack pipe in front of Marion Barry and asking him not to smoke it.

Brent i tried a 16 tooth one time and i didn't like it and didn't it pick up any ET or MPH so i went back stock... Brocks feels that the stock gears are right on the money and i agree ...Smokin..

Burnout, I don't know what your weight is But a 9.69 is going to be very hard to do all stock IMO unless your one of those 140 to 150 pound jockeys.

Yes, you're probably right. I know the magazines correct to some mythical perfect day that may never actually occur, but , hey I'm an optimist! I do feel, however, that the bike has more to coax out strictly from a driver & weather perspective.

There is a pro rider (looks like he's 120-140lb) that's offered to show me what the bike is capable of. We tried to get a courtesy run after the track closed last night to no avail. So I'll have him jump on next week before the pipe goes on for shits & giggles.
