I'm still freakin' over the 16/43'a on mine. Rode it today...sick, sick, sick. There is however a very noticeable difference in the way it pulls in 6th as opposed to 5th. At the same RPM's (4K or so and up), it pulls much harder in 6th. There seems to be some truth to that 6th gear factory mapping/timing and it's even more prevalent now after the sprocket changes. Maybe time to add that 270 ohm resistor.

I know it will, but you have to spend bigger bucks to get that and mapping, when simply adding the resistor will do the same thing. I'm beginning to think it might be less and less important to have that GPI, especially since with the S/H and 16/43's installed, it doesn't report correctly anyway. Put it this way; if the GPI was working right, I'd probably go that route, but since I've now lost that, I'm wondering what the advantage would really be. If I get her to get the timing to 6th gear mapping with the 2 cent mod...would there be any advantage in using an ignition module instead, from what you know about it? Bill said he got another 3-5 HP with it on the 10R...would the resistor give me anything less than that IYO?

Steve..
the lower gears will be able to take more ignition advance than the top gears, as ther is less load on the motor.
Setting ignition advance as factory set for 6 th gear( using TRE :P or the resistor) will not get you optimal ignition timing for each gear as the module will.
Will module vs resistor make a big difference.... NO. not likely.
I really doubt it.
For the money the resistor will be the best bang for the $,
... as the module will never make a difference like the flies out, 16 or 43 tooth, or the pipe.
The factory timing is close enough, unless motor work or alternate/race fuels are used.

Ya...that's kind of what I was thinking...I'm also thinking about looking at the wire that the SH normally connects to, to see if there is a separate wire to go the ODO /ECU/Speodo somewhere. My thinking is that if I can nail the wire to the speedo only, the GPI may work correctly. If you have a minute, maybe you can look through the manual to see abut wiring to the speedo...would be really nice to save the GPI...I could always put a switch on the resistor to bypass that circuit when I want the GPI working.

My wife says it aint quiet, not where she sits. She says that for her, she'd rather ride all day on my Boss Hoss with open pipes than the 14 with the Gen 3. Forward where the driver sits, it isn't too bad in my opinion.
