I went for a Metzeler M3 when the rear 014 lose its shape. I've been very happy, road and track. The M3's grip is very good on wet also. Now 3000 ml done and the shape is still very round. I'm going to put a M3 in front also for the next season.

my neighbor has 05 r1 and he replaced his with metzeler m3 and he said he really likes the grip and handling of it.

Another +1 for Pilot Powers. The bike feels SO much surer with the PPs on. Put em on at 4500, nearly 10K now and they still have lots of wear left in them. ANd yes, I'm twisting the grip pretty hard every chance I get LOL!

What tire pressure is everyone running? I just ordered some Conti Sport Attacks. The stock rear only lasted 3000 miles

That's AWESOME! Mine was gone at 1300miles from just street riding the twisties in the country, no burnouts. WOT melts them QUICK.

Using the 2CTs right now in Nevada. heat tends to melt these, especially when going through Death Valley at 117 F! only got around 4K on the first rear 2CT and on my second. i replace them as soon as I get near the wear bar b/c I go as fast as I can in the straights. Michelin recommends the HPX for the 14, even on oily Nevada roads. anyone use them?

how are you dragging pegs when the fairing is the first thing to drag?

I'm running a tomahawk T-3 right now and just got my second in the mail today. Cheap, handles great, and grips great at the dragstrip. oh yeah, rock solid at 186 indicated lol.

So it sounds like the consensus is Pilot Powers, Pilot Roads, Pirelli Stradas, and Metzeler M3s. I'll wear down the originals a while then go with what should be the stickiest, best feeling tire that gets at least decent mileage. Although extremely suggestive, which is it going to be?

i have @ 8500 miles on my 06, used the oem to replace the first time and i just installed the PP this time around. Can't report on wear yet but ican say two things. They seem to stick better and the turn in seems quicker. All in all i'm very happy with the michelins.

I said the same thing. I ended up with the regular Pilot Powers on mine. You can beat on them as soon as you put them on. I was in Indianapolis for Memorial weekend. One of the riders took us down to Seymour, In for some "tire-cleaning" roads like 50, 58, 135. Wherever I pointed the bike, it went. Michelins are on all of my club member's bikes as well.

Stock Battle axes were good(sticky enough, never let the bike slip) but I found as I adjusted to the bikes power and the stock tires went out @ 8k, I got Pilot powers and they stuck like glue! But I only got 4k out of the rear . I've recent got a Dunlop Road Smart(rear only) but have had 4 minor slips around aggessive excellerating corners(Good reaction saved the bike) and I would NEVER use that rear tire on my bike again even if I don't get the life I wanted
