Got clearance? (ZX14 scraping bodywork short vid)

So I was up at the Rock store a few weekends ago and met up with another ZX14 rider from zx14.net who wanted to show off his riding skills , so he gave me his camera and i filmed him go through the final turn before the (squid) lookout.
Next time we meet i'll be sure to have my camera mounted so i can get footage of him leaving black tire marks through all his turns ...

Yah his goal was to scrape the bike through the whole turn at slow speeds which he pretty much did .
He'll do that with any turn in the malibu canyons and at much much higher speeds .
His mode was set to the relaxed position that day .

We need to set up more rides with that dude and get some more footage

This is just to show you what can be done on a 14 with a good rider and believe me this guy is good.
No one was trying to impress you or looking for your approval.

Why not? He had great form through the turn and had perfect control...I'd say he did a great job...very well executed in fact, very smooth too.

I was very impressed to see how well and fast he corners the ZX14 . TMR is one of the best canyon street fighter rider I have seen so far. He kicks ass on the big 14.

So what does your knee have to do with your lean angle? NOTHING!

I have never put a knee down on any bike myself (not tried, but know it's easy)............and there is no reason to do it unless you have to prevent a fall...........

Obviously the guy can ride................................but call me fussy, I try to avoid damaging my bike when I ride it! It is one thing to replace the 'feelers' on the bottom of the foot pegs, but I imagine the fairing lowers have to be at least a few hundred dollars to replace.....................unless having holes worn through them gives you bragging rights at bike night!

My concern is that if you are dragging the fairing you are on the ragged edge of jacking the wheels off the ground if you touch down a little harder than intended. The only thing I hate damaging more than my bike is well myself!

I'm sure the guy rides the shit out of it, but I think he is scraping it in the wrong places, perhaps diving a bit deep maybe needs to stiffen up the forks, i would think the pegs scrape first if you smooth it(my word for slower probably)

Right!! I use the tip of my boot as a feeler gage. If they are draggin I am out to the edge of the tires(no ckicky strips)

You would if you were doing track...you need to in order to gauge your lean angle using your puck as a "sensor"...that's precisely why they make pucks and on the track...you don't try; it just happens when all conditions are right. BTW, it's not so easy to do in the streets, not if you're doing it right anyway...

its gotta be worse now by now, but i definetly dont like fairing damage of any kind. i try to take it easy - anything more than grinding the sides of my boots would be inappropriate for street riding, i guess.

Sure I would on the track, but I wouldn't want to snag something on the streets w/ my slider.........which I don't even put on my leathers. When I feel my boots touch I remember to move my feet back on the pegs, but I usually keep them back anyway and let the pegs find the limit.
