"R" Model ZX14
Is the "R"model just a pipe dream or is Kaw getting ready for the '08 Busa?If there is an "R"model ZX14 I'm there!

What exactly would make an "R" model.A lack of independent cylinder limits expansion and the monocoque frame makes it more difficult for turbos.Oh sure Muzzy has a kit,but wait until riders start losing cylinders and have to replace the whole casing. That'll make you think twice about doing anything. Now granted that would be if one wanted to take the bike to the strip. If on the other hand,a pure street bike would be nice to come with Ohlins suspension and some light weight wheels thereby lightening the bike some might cause a
rise in interest.

An R model would probably be less Busa, more ZX12R but with the 14 motor. A bit shorter, taller, more narrow, more ground clearance, better handling, slimmer tail section, lighter, no GF grills, etc... not gonna happen though. No R model, the ZX14 is a dragbike like sport tourer and the Concours is a... sport tourer. And that's it.
But there's still the ZX10R and plenty of used 12R's

The 14's not an "R" bike...
Big bore and "R" simply don't go together. There are plenty of pock R's out there to chose from, take your pick.

I wouldn't be so sure When the ZX6R picked up the extra "R", displacement was reduced. Will the 14's "R" stand for "relaxed"? (I doubt anyone will really roadrace a 14 - sure, some will try but it won't go far).

Are designates any bike designed for racing drag included the current ZX14 is a sport touring bike the ZX14R will be specifically designed for Drag racing and will be 1398 CC's and what we have now will become the ZZR 1400 replacing the ZZR 1200

I seriously doubt there will be and "R" model drag bike. If there was, why would Kawasaki market the 14 so much as a drag bike? I mean all you have seen for 06 and 07 is RG racing 14's on the strip. Why would kawasaki market the bike for 2 years as a great drag bike only to switch it up to make it a touring bike and come out with another drag bike.
My guess is that kawasaki will update the 14 for '08 to better compete with whatever suzuki does with the busa. Suppsedly the busa that was supposed to come out for 07 had to be reworked because it didn't dominate the 14. So if the new busa that is actually pretty good, than I'm sure we'll have a reworked 14 for 08 that will shave another .2 secs off the 1/4 mile time. Probably a less obtrusive retard under 5k rpm. Maybe something it only affects throttle movements under 50%, over 50% you get all the power you want.
