My day at the drags, Part 7, with video
I had a pretty good day at the track. Best 60'=1.498, best 1/8=6.116, best 1/4=9.458, best mph-145.365
The run where I video taped was; RT=.057, 60'=1.594, 1/8=6.219, mph=141.589
It would have been faster, but you try sitting up and running the 1/4 mile. I couldn't lay on the tank because the camera gets in the way. About midway down the track, I try to lay down out of the wind, and you see the camera tilt up slightly.
I was running 89 octane pump gas, air filter in, stretched 7" over stock, lowered and strapped. This track I was running at is not very good, as you can see on the tape. The shutdown area is full of bumps and weeds. Traction wasn't that good, but I"m finally able to pin the throttle very quickly after I launch.

Cool thanks for posting that ........Watching the video a few times i see that you are bogging a few feet out of the hole .. Watching the tac on the shifts it looks like you short shifted on the 1 to 2 gear change ( i do that sometimes because i don't have time to look at the tack) I'll bet money that your 1.49 60 foot run it didn't bog... Very cool to watch and i bet watching it we all can learn a few things from your Video.. I got to get a video of mine so i can see what i'm doing right or wrong.. When im riding things happen to fast to tell if i screwed up....... Where is that track at? That shut down is the worst i have ever seen and i have been to some bad tracks ... The worst was is Ceder Creek 1/8 track in TX ...
Thanks again iflyphi good job and keep up the good work....... Smokin...

I was short shifting, and bogging the launch because I was basically sitting up, not laying down like normal. Camera was in the way.
The track is in Eunice, La. It's called Louisiana Raceway, and is the worse track I've ever been too. And I've been to 36 tracks around the country. But, it's fairly close, and was open today.
Oh, on the shifts, I really couldn't see the tach because of the camera, and sitting up, so I just guessed. Still ran a 9.59 sitting up, not bad. But still not "Smokin"

I just noticed, I beat your best 60' time!!! Ran a 1.49, and a bunch of 1.51's.......Yeeehawwww....
I still don't have the mph that you have. Are you running 17/41 gearing?? Mine is 16/41 right now, and foot shifting.
Oh, and I still have the original clutch in the bike. But, I put those long ass stiff springs in it. Gonna get a lock up clutch next.

I had a 1.45 60 foot but that was when i had it 5 inchs over...I'm Stock wheel base again and the best is a 1.52 60 footer ...I'm running stock gears now 17/41 .. I just added a Dyno jet Quick shifter and will be testing that Wensday Night... I'm still on my stock clutch and it seems to be working ok but i did order the Heavy springs that you have....I think i will add 3 of the stronger springs for now and see how that does....Smokin...

Just put all the springs in. You won't notice much difference the way you lauch. Saw a guy at the other track on Friday that had one of those dynojet quickshifters. He was having a lot or problems with it. Not sure what the problem was. I want an airshifter. I'm 6' tall and have long legs. It's very difficult for me to get my legs on the pegs to shifts. On my old drag bike with airshifter, I would just dangle my legs throught the 1/4, then put them on the pegs at the end of the run.
Stock wheelbase is no fun at the drags. I bought this bike to drag race, so if anything I'll probably go longer eventually. Looking at Mcintosh or Tracdynamics extended swingarms now, and mult-stage lockups.

82 passes on my qiuck shifter and it works great not one problem. Ran my best mph 151.90 and 121.72 in the 1/8. If I ever learn how to 60 ft this bike it will fly. I went a 9.48 with a crappy 1.71 60ft.

that track looks like the old twin cities track they closed down off mobley (off racetrack road)after the water company bought the property(grown over)
you wouldn't run at sunshine either if you walked it in the light of day
those clowns that run the place don't care about the racers
you have to be a tampa old fart to know about these tracks

I walked Sunshine speedway many times over 27 years and the shut down is fine... Yes the track was built in 1958 but it's not in bad shape at all ...Smokin...
You want to see a bad track go look at lakeland strip. ( now closed)

I launch at 5500...shift at 11,000. I hate these .5/10th trees. But I cut a decent light on this pass. I'm used to a 4/10th pro-tree, and when I move back to California, that's what everybody runs there.
