Lottery?...nope not the big one yet but I did buy my tickets for tomorrow night's draw.
Closest to winning the lottery was just 5 out 6 with mega...yielded $27,000 would've been more but 9 other people matched the same. 
And I did hit a progressive jackpot in Vegas for $6900 last summer, to include $600 winning on a slot just driving through Tahoe, and that was dumping 6 quarters on the first hit. Also, hit a hole in one at a golf course in Portugal back in 1997. I found a wallet at a Safeway parking lot with $300 cash and two blank money orders valued at $360 back in January but I turned it in to the local PD.....lucky and honest eh? 
I'll let you know if I hit the lottery, then I'll buy the rights to your board name.

Wow... it's amazing how when someone asks for feedback on radar detectors, then the thread veers off into a "radar detectors are a waste of money because I'm *lucky*" direction. Nobody asked how lucky you were, or if your x-ray vision worked better than a V1. Chris asked if radar detectors do their job for people who owned them, and the answer is a resounding yes. That's all. Question answered.
Chris, pick up a top-o-the-line Bel, Passport, or a V1 and you'll be quite pleased. Unplug it in the rain and don't power it up again anytime soon if it really got wet. If you know you're going to be riding through rain, stuff it inside your jacket to keep it dry so you don't have any worries... water isn't too good for these $300-$400 gadgets.
As far as "hearing" them while you're moving, don't worry about that. Buy yourself a HARD helmet LED and keep your ears for music (MP3's or your engine - it's your choice). You can get the HARD had some online motorcycle accessory places, or directly from the manufacturer at http://www.legalspeeding.com.

Decisions, decisions. Well thanks for the input. I've decided on the Bel. Seems like the best suited for me. Now I just need to figure out what style techmount to get, stem, faring, or control.

uh....ok First off, what's wrong with my personal experience of "luck"? Just merely stated didn't need one....then numb nuts wants to flame and have a childish tantrum making him look loke a total fool...he may not be one, but sure acts the role of one.
Oh, and don't forget to watch out for airplanes and check over your right shoulder when you blaze by a freeway onramp at light speed. Hopefully some will be lucky to outrun the CHP But with "street smarts" and possessing the wit for reading your gadget you can overcome those hiding CHPS -- I'm sure "blitzkrieg" would be able to avoid the trap.
I rely on luck and "street smarts" in not getting tagged. ie today, 90mph on HWY1, approaching an on ramp and slowed down...guess who was sitting on the on ramp?
Seconds after I pass the on ramp a Goldwing blows by me...guess what he had mounted on the fancy rig of his?....one of them gadgets....guess who came blowing by me next?.....that's right CHP. I figured he was going at least 85-90mph. That should be a pretty nice ticket and fine.

The stem mount works great...I use that for my GPS.

I've read the write up on the radar shoot out. If I were dependent on one I'd go with the Bel
FYI - I did a search for the best price for the Bell and seen them as low as $218 + $8 shipping. But I'm sure anyone with electronic savviness can go to an electronic parts shop and make a comparable one for $80 or less.
