Aren't you my friend? That might count for at least one...my wife...that makes 2 and the guy who's Gixxer I rode...there! That's at least 3...I know he's my friend...he's way bigger and stronger than me...there's nothing he wants from me and he let me ride his bike while he did spreads on mine.

ya...on mine...he had no issue within a minute of getting on it the 1st time...this fucker can stunt and he can ride too...no C-strips on his tires either!

Thanks for those informative responses 'dubious', it's obvious you are a man of knowledge on this 'stuff'.

I have a naked streetbike (speed triple) in my modest stable, it's somewhat slower revving and 'tuned for the street' rather than the track so I expect some measure of longevity from it, I'm hoping 2-3 model generations.

I'm sure if you maintain it, have the valves set at proper intervals, change the oil often, never allow it to overheat, and inspect the carb or throttle body boots annually, it will last a very long time.

All machine these days have rev limiters.
Usually improperly adjusted valve lash, poor lubrication, or coolant system malfunction are the reasons the engines die prematurely.
The reason i say check the throttle body boots, they deteriorate over the years, and even a loose clamp from the factory can cause ingestion of debris, and this will wear out your cylinder.
I have seen a couple of engines dusted from this, street bikes, and actually Yamaha's were famous for it 10 years ago.
