Cox Rad Guard - Part 2
Last thread is locked for some reason on this subject.....................Fish really doesn't like them I guess!
Anyway, got mine yesterday and it fits well except for one minor clearance issue. The plastic filler panel that is bolted below the horn was rubbing slightly on the rad guard. I just ground it down a fat 1/8" and the problem was solved. Even stock the clearance from the back edge of this panel and the rad is pretty tight.
I did not remove my fairing to install, but I did remove the front fender to give me a little more room to work and to avoid scratching the front fender from dropped wrenches etc.
It was a little tight in getting the upper tie down straps around the upper rad mounts (would be easier with the fairing off), but was not too bad and ultimately was alot quicker than yanking the whole fairing off.
Basically since I installed a black one, you don't notice it unless you really look. It is easy to clean if you get bugs/crap between the screen and your rad as you just pull the bottom mounting bolt and it pivots away so you could wash/blow crap out.
I'm not to worried it will make the bike run hotter, not very restrictive looking. A rad with bent fins and full of bugs would be worse I think
Since at least 2 members have had holes in their rads, the rad guard gives me a little piece of mine now.
