New mapping installed

Got 2 maps; one from lietoome and one from ZX1KR; both very similar from looking at the tables...much leaner than the Brock (no fly) map for my Gen 3. ZX1Kr's map didn't work as I got an incompatible map format message, but thanks anyway ZX -- (must have been made for the 10R modded PC3)

Here's what I found:

1) As soon as I loaded Lietoome's map (bike running), the idle speed dropped from 950 to 750, so I had to bring it up.

2) I'm using more gas than before, don't know why

3) Performance seems to be about the same

4) Engine running noticeably hotter, same as when it was bone stock...1 bar over 1/2 when stopped or running at under 30 MPH in 72 temps, whereas I was running about 1 bar under half at the same temp/humidity/speed before

5) Doesn't burn my lungs from the exhaust fumes like it did under Brock's richer map

6) Way less black at tailpipe now

7) Still has a bit of hesitation at WOT in higher gears at 5-6K, not stumble or lack of power, it just takes a bit longer to wind up as opposed to the stock pipe with flies in. It's fine at part throttle. Busa's never did that to me....would be nice to get it fixed, but according to Brock, he saw that on the Dyno and it appeared much worse than it is when riding...it's something I can definitely live with.

8) Still pops once at 3.5-4K on decel, same as before - can live with that.

So, I was supposed to hit the Dyno tomorrow, but had to cancel due to other more pressing issues...however, since I went from very rich to very lean and performance didn't really change, I'm not sure that there would be much benefit to a Dyno tune now...I'll see later what I'll do.

I may go back to Brock's rich map, just to get the engine running cooler again. I haven't checked the plugs to see what's happening, but I suspect that they'll be pretty clean anyway...

i had incompatible map problems- had to upgrade my dynojet pc software...
if you got better gas mileage with the flies still in then i guess that might explain why? doesnt a lotta black mean its running a bit too rich? you plugged the kleen system im assuming, which is designed to reburn exhaust fumes for a cleaner, more enviromentally friendly hyperbike.

No no no...not better with the flies in, better with the richer map from Brock. I have the latest software downloaded from DJ's site...and yes, that was the first thing we did...blockoff. I can't figure out why gas mileage goes down when it goes leaner and hotter...but the engine temp went way hotter with the leaner map.

Thanks, Brock. I'll "drive" over to your suggested area about fuel sys cleaning, too.

BTW, I'm running your no-flies street map in my bike since I yanked 'em. My tuner hasn't had time to do my (freebie) re-map. I'm really pretty happy with yours so I haven't been busting his balls.

Very sincerely, thank you. Your customer service is unsurpassed.

FBA, Yes must of my ZX14 maps were done on the modded zx10 PC's.
You can just transfer the parameters to the 14 pc & you'll be good to go!

The map I sent you is the same map I'm running. This is also the same map TRU195 is running. Our bikes pull identical #'s on my dyno which is 188hp. He has seen 192hp on another dyno. My 14 is brutally fast & runs flawlessly as far as throttle response goes. I do have an occasional pop at 3500 rpms. I believe I can get rid of it, I just don't remember to correct it because it's just not that much of a concern. (try zeroing out the fuel values @ 0% Tp above 2k rpms)

It's been said that there is no fuel in the original Kawi map on closed throttle decel...so you can't change the value...at least that's what I read here the othger day..

What mod's are you runnin to get that type of hp's Bill?

Yea, but if fuel have been added on the pc map (which I have seen & didn't bother to remove) you can remove that. Which I believe is the source of the popping.

FBA Was thinking is ther anyway the pop at 3500 is not fuel / Kaw clean air thing but maybe a timming / LSA of the cam thing ?

I don't know enough about that to give you an intelligent response...it sounds like fuel to me, DJ says it's a fuel issue...my suspect is that if the headers were smaller, it wouldn't pop. Other members have stated that they don't have the popping on decel with other pipes, but Brock's pipes are race pipes and are larger for more airflow, wonder what would happen with a less restrictive or even no air filter. There are probably a few ways to stop it, timing...A/F mixture...etc. I know that when I raise the idle speed up to over 1K, it's much more prevolant for some reason...TPS maybe...I don't know...
