only reason you dont see more often is the last year unrestricted was 2000... because the zx14 is faster busaboy

who is this joe a. guy anyway? i'll bet he dont even own a motorcycle.
what's up joe? apparently they dont have a clue.
From your statements I take it that you are not familar with the classes of Land Speed Racing. You can't compare bike in different class catagories. It's like comparing apples to oranges. The APS class is "special construction" and has nothing to do with a production bike either with the fairing or it's engine. It's the most modified class sit-on bike one can enter.
If your seriously interested in learning more about the classes go to:

or e-mail me.
Flyboy,
Can you tell me why your post here is so funny?
Can JoeA call you with all his questions on LSR stuff?
Will you be his mentor if he shows his ugly azz on the salt???
I want to see him do something noteable also instead of talking about it....
Hey JoeA get a grip and buy a rule book... Why don't you show whatever piece of junk you have to bring on the salt.... I bet you get performance enhancements from Ace Hardware...
You sound like you are trying to learn so I will help you.
The picture in this post is me in the MPS class, not the production class.
The density altitude at Bonneville last week was around 6,000 ft. Most people use a formula of 3% change in power/speed for every 1,000 ft. So if my stock engine with stock pipe averaged 189 mph. what would that be at sea level?

geeez guys, I am just trying to understand what defines
"kicking butt"........as it relates to the zx14 at Bonneville.............
I have perused the results at many Bonneville meets and
my son and I cant figure out how a new zx14 running 192-195 mph
with aftermarket pipe, and body modifications such as rear fender
removed........which is slower than many bikes with less displacement
and through stock exhaust and some with stock engines.............qualifies
as kicking butt..........

..........I say again.........lets let results speak for themselves...............
I thought the goal was to achieve real world speed.......on the venue you
are racing on.......not magazine/internet banter about some calculated
speed at sea level with xxx air............
ok........let me ask you this..........I will tell you what the speed would
be at sea level.........based on your hp assumptions.............
IF ........YOU can tell me to what degree the aerodynamic drag
changed with the reduced density altitude..............
please ponder this and let me know as I am keenly interested in where
you think the battle goes as you go up in altitude and temperature............
as it relates to hp lost.......and aero gained.........
additionally...I understand by your post.......that the aftermarket exhaust system
was utilized in MPS-F class.........you went 192.......slower than your production
class runs with stock exhaust...........do you normally make less hp with the Brock
pipe........?????
also was the rear fender off during the production class runs...
thank you in advance for the enlightenment.......
in the end.......that is what is so special and awesome about sites like this...to facilitate
an enhanced knowledge base.....

warbird......you must have me confused with someone else........
I have seen bonneville before though.....including on tv.....and in
magazines and on internet....there is alot of data on the net I have
found..........
I my bike isnt quite 1000cc and is over 16 yrs old.........I am not worthy
of the likes of busa's, 12's, and zx14's...........
I am deeply hopeful that the 14 can do some butt kicking.........just
havent seen it yet............

I'm confident there are threads specifically for you hero type guys that ride litre bikes in excess of 220 MPH anyway.

Read it again, I dont recall JoeA saying anything about his speeds. He is very humble person when talking... He doesnt "hero" his speeds on the boards. He was asking a simple question and never made reference to himself at any post.
And since the cat is out of the bag on that one,, Flyboy I believe JoeA has been going to Bonneville since 1991, was part of the rules committee's, and also a member of the 200 mph club... Been 223 on nitrous in the 1000cc MPS-F class, and fastest speed to date at Speedweek this year is 246 mph on 998cc...
So When you want to educate JoeA on the rules please enlighten him....
How is a Zx14 going 180's and 190's setting the world on fire.. And that was the original post. The post JoeA has been trying to ask and the rants go on...??? There is only one answer, ITS NOT... While it's a great first time effort come back next year and go faster, when you are faster the the lesser displacement class then you can claim kicked butt...
Running an open record and setting the record is ok to do, have fun doing it... But when you are off by more then 10 mph then the next lower class???
