Quick derestrict

Hi folks, have used search, but to no avail.

I have the opportunity to run my ZZR1400 tomorrow on a 2.2mile strip with timing equipment, and want to crack 200mph.

I've been told I can disconnect the speedo cable to bypass the limiter (which kicks in on mine at around 183mph), is this true?

Cheers,

Dale

Just disconnect the three pin connector which carries the gearbox sprocket tacho pulse up to the ECU. Follow the cable which emerges from the centre of the sprocket cover (down on the left-hand side of the engine) after a few inches of cable you will find the connector.

Do this on the start line. You'll get one run before the ECU goes into error mode. Switch off the ignition and re-connect to re-set the ECU. Do the same sequence on your subsequent runs. A bit of a pain but it works.

Removing the mirrors and lowering the bike helps quite a lot ! Good luck.

Cheers mate! Am still on stock gearing but with a 190/55 rear, so it'll be interesting to see what I can get.

Should pull around 190 at peak power on stock 17/41 gearing. If you can hit the limiter in 6th you'll be doing 204.
A totally stock 14 ran a 198.7mph at Woodbridge earlier this month, that was with mirrors on, standard exhaust etc. Just with a Speedo Healer to de-restrict.

Well, I'm up by 20bhp at the limiter, so hopefully 200mph is on the cards.

Fingers crossed for the wind...

Given the right weather conditions you could do it.

My 14 is geared 18/41 and pulled around 10250rpm to go through the timing equipment at 205.4mph. That's with Tiforce system, PC, Speedo Healer and lowered. 192.9 rear wheel bhp.

Just a thought, if you're looking for a UK ZZR1400 top speed record then Rob, ex-employee of Colchester Kawasaki, ran a 207mph dead at Woodbridge during JD9. I haven't heard of any faster !
