More Kudos for Brock

I have been talking back and forth with Brock for a few weeks about the system I want for my bike. Picky me, I couldn't be satisfied with something from off the shelf. I have a red 14 and I don't like the way the shiny stuff looks on it. I wanted a black system. Not just a painted system either. I want one with a thermal barrier coating that will keep more heat in the pipe and send it out behind me.

Yesterday I received an e-mail stating that he had just what I was looking for and it was ready to ship. He didn't ask for a deposit. He told me I didn't even have to buy it. He just liked the idea and sent a couple systems out for testing.

I am leaving tonight for the start of my 11 day vacation run from Texas to the Rockies and across to the Grand Canyon before returning to Houston. When I get back I will have a Generation III carbon fiber system with black, thermal coated headers and mid pipe. How cool is that? Yes I am getting a PC for flies out service and a 16 tooth sprocket for added fun.

So if you want something special or you want to be treated like a special customer, call and ask for Brock. It worked for me.

Thanks Brock !!! You are definitely the Man.

I'll be using hi-temp paint. Should work fine, I'll see.

So here I sit impatiently waiting for my stuff to arrive on UPS. Probably won't show up until Tuesday. I can't decide whether to install it all at once or if I should go with the exhaust system first, then pull flies and finally add the front sprocket. I am leaning toward doing it all and blasting off like a rocket ship. Come on Tuesday!!

you need to do it all. The bike will be apart anyway for most of it when you install the pipe.................

The high temp paint will be fine for the color change but because of ambient temps here in Houston, I wanted the ceramic coating. They have been putting that stuff on automotive headers for years, with under-hood temp reductions of up to 30%. My shins will appreciate the difference.

I was looking for a header system that would match up with my slip-ons. I wanted the headers to be black. That would be nice to have for many of the markets slip-ons. How did you make contact? Phone, email?

I called him on the phone. If you look above and click on "SPONSORS" you will find all of Brocks information. I also happen to know he has a Streetmeg system in black ready for shipment unless someone has already purchased it.

If you want to keep the dual shorty canisters you already have, it might be a good idea to pick up an OEM front section from someone that has gone with a full system and send it out to have it coated. Then you won't have any down time with your bike.

I pulled the flies last week, but work and travel interfered with getting it mapped until today. +22 lb/ft of torque on the bottom...Wow...

UPS called to confirm that someone would be home to sign for my shipment.

My shit is here! I got the 1st all black and carbon fiber Brocks Performance exhaust.

The rest of my week sucks. Dinner plans for tonight. Fly to Chicago and back for work tomorrow. Kid has a ballgame on Thursday. Astro vs. Phillies tickets for Friday.

Saturday is the day. Bright and early everything goes on.

edit: Except for those pesky secondary butterflys, they are coming off.

I couldn't bring myself to put the high-temp paint on those beautiful headers, so I just hit the midpipe with a couple coats and baked it before install. I am the Anti-Chrome!!! LOL

Hey lietoome. Let me know how that paint job on the mid-pipe holds up. I like the look. If it works well on your bike it'll be done to mine. What paint did you use? How long didja bake it? My headers have turned gold with a little blue color and I like that. Would just paint the mid-pipe like you did.

Smoked windscreen...is actually the same paint I used on my midpipe. I can tell you the paint that I used on the midpipe will last at least 2 years+. I used the same brand and type on my 12. It looked good the day I sold it, no need to repaint. I used the flat-black hi-temp Krylon, good up to 1300 degrees. Also cleaned up the screen and hit the inside with three coats. My gut is too big to worry about tucking. lol It also kills a lot of the glare on my guages and makes the lights easier to see too.

Like I said, did the same mods to my 12 a few years ago, and the screen and the pipe are still good to go.

Less chrome the better. This way, when you gotta pull off the side of the road and throw vegitation over you ride, the popo may just drive on by. LOL

I cleaned the inside of the screen with alchohol, let it dry and then shot it 3 times. The krylon dries quick, about 15 minutes between coats....or 30 seconds like I did works too.

I painted the inside only.

I'm still thinking about hitting my header pipes with hi-temp red....I'll have to think about that the next time I have it apart.

**************when you paint the midpipe, make sure that you mark the overlap for the muffler. There is no need to put the paint where the midpipe enters the muffler. It just makes removing the muffler a little more of a PITA. I didn't do this, but I wish I would've.

Thanks for the feedback lietoome. I like that black mid-pipe. I'm thinking mine is gonna be black pretty soon. Really looks nice on the red bike, which I have.
